sleep apnoea

Hi there, i've just read some of the discussions about sleep apnoea, most of them have been helped with the use of a c-pap machine. My husband was diagnosed with sleep apnoea about 16 years ago and was given a c-pap machine to use, unfortunately he is unable to use it - he also suffers from claustrophobia and as such he takes the mask off during his sleep! I was wondering if anyone else has problems with c-pap and if they do what do they do? My husband has also recently been diagnosed with COPD (Cronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) which makes lying down to sleep almost impossible. Has anyone else developed other problems.
