I like wearing flip flops. They're comfortable, and they come in such a wide range of designs and colors. But I think there's a time and place to wear them. At my job our dress code says we cannot wear flip flops even on dress-down days. But still, some people challenge it. I recently went into a clothing store, and all the young girls working there were wearing flip flops. I know it was a clothing store, but their wearing flip flops looked sloppy and unprofessional. How do you feel about flip flops? When and where do you wear yours? Which are your favorite ones? Thanks in advance for your responses.

i agree with you wearing flip flops is very comfortable and light weight...but wearing them depends on the occasion..and surely not fit for office work and formal get together or whatever..my favorite one is Havainas..do you have a pair of that??mine have half inch heel...and color is pink..

I like them too but there is definitely a time and a place for everything. Working on the job wearing them is not it, unless you're a life guard or something. It does make them look sloppy and unprofessional and I'm sure that a lot of those places would fire their employees for wearing those or at least send them home without pay until they decided to wear regular shoes. Flip flops don't alow you to move freely so you really can't do your job well if you're not wearing correct shoes.

I agree with you. They're also noisy and a safety hazard. Then again, back when I was a nursing student, we were not allowed to wear clogs in clinicals, even though Nurse Mates made a nursing clog. Now nurses wear Crocs and every color of the rainbow. Nurses don't look like nurses anymore.

I don't think there is ever a good time or place to wear them, not because I am some sort of fashion snob, rather because I simply cannot operate with a pair of flip flops on my feet. I am very clumsy to begin with and flip flops just add to that. I scuff my toes, get the front of the shoe bent under and trip and generally just end up chafing the area between my toes....I'll stick to runners thanks.

I don't like things between my toes but I have a pair of the kind that doesn't to wear around the house before bed and when I get up. That's because my cats are known to do evil things to shoes if left to their own devices. I leave my shoes safe in the bathroom (door closed) when I take them off. My foot doctor didn't even want me to wear them that much, until I explained that it was only to go to bed and if I got up in the middle of the night, not for wearing around the house otherwise.

I love my furballs, but they are not the best behaved of children.

They don't have any support, so I can understand why the podiatrist would advise against wearing them for more than around the house. I won't even ask what your little fur balls do to your shoes. Ah...gotta love 'em!

Yeah I understand what you mean. It doesn't really show professionalism. It's different though if you work in your office and your boss gives you permission. But other than that no. I didn't really like flip flops but I have these really nice flip flops from Coca Cola. I got them from collecting the points from the bottle and then the Coca Cola sent it to me. I agree with you there's a time and place for flip flops.

My boyfriend saves up those Coca Cola points. I'll have to ask him to save some for flip flops (for me!!!). Thanks for the tip.

Mmm i love my flip flops a little to much. I wear them everywhere even in the snow. Yes I'm just that crazy. Anyways I must agree that there is a time and a place to wear flip flops and the workplace is definitely not one of them. Now for a dress down day i could possibly see wearing them but even then the workplace is not suitable for them.

I've actually seen flip-flops look like dress shoes. One of my pals showed me her flip-flops, and they looked so professional. However I agree, flip flops to work (especially if it's against the dress code) then I would say no. I know some data processing places allow it because I mean you are at a desk the whole time. However, other jobs where you need to show a good impression would be not good. I like wearing them on the beach, and my favorite color for them is black. Pablo

I always wear flip-flops - at home, when going to the mall or grocery store, to the bank, while driving, etc. But I agree it should not be worn for work, unless if it's a Sunday or holiday or night shift and you don't have to face customers.

I notice when people where flip flops in inappropriate places too. I don't like to wear flip flops or any sandal that goes between my toes. They hurt my feet so I stay away from them. A lot of my friends and family love their flip flops but I just can't get used to having it between my toes! I end up with sores; yuck!

Yeah I wear those all the time but where I'm from we call them slippers lol I don't know why, I would think that we use it everyday as soon as we come home from work just kick off our shoes and put them on and maybe head down to the beach for some relaxing time with the family or just lounge around.

You should wear flip flops around your house and if your out in public I think a woman should wear some good kicking shoes in case she ever gets attacked.Think about it,if someone tried to mugg you or attack you in any way then do you think think that flip flops would allow you to kick a suspect or would you even be able to run very good in these.

You are right, there is a place and time to wear them. Not because you like wearing them, you can wear them as you pleased. Flip flops is for informal gathering. It is good for malling, in the beach, casual get-together with friends. But never at work. No matter how casual you think it is, I believe you should wear flip flops to work because it's just like you treat your workplace the extension of your home. If you want to command respect and have dignity at work, I believe you should dress for success.

i wish i could wear them as they are inexpensive and carefree but they do not have enough support for my feet. i have problems with my feet and need good support and the other thing is i cannot wear anything that goes between my toes so all sandals like that are out for me. that thing that goes between your toes drives me nuts.

I like wearing flip flops almost everywhere. I don't wear flip flops when I am working or meeting with my clients. I do think that it is not professional. I wouldn't walk far with flip flops, because they offer no arch support.

You are right about their lack of arch support. I made the mistake one year of going to an amusement park in flip flops. My feet and legs ached by the end of the day.

I think there is a time and a place for them and that's when you are doing something casual. I just saw a girl at her confirmation wearing the prettiest dress and when she stepped down from getting her certificate....she had on flip flops! If I had been her mom or grandmother I would have told her to be respectful in church and wear shoes! No only that but it took away from her pretty dress! I have some with thick soles in a lime green that match my bathing suit. I also have some hot pink ones that match and outfit....I prefer the lime green ones! They are so much fun!

I love flip flops they are so easy to get on and off! I don't think you should wear flip flops to work though it does not seem proffestional or santiary unless you work as a lifeguard then I can see wearing flip flops.

I like them, but I have to agree with you. there is a time and place to wear them. When I walk into a business and see someone wearing nice shoes, that go well with their clothes, it shows that they care about their job. but to walk in and see someone wearing flip flops, does kind of show them being lazy, and not caring about how their appearance relfects the business.

I also love using flip flops. They're comfortable and you can easily move using them. Before only the poor wears them. But now, because of the many designs and colors and because it's the in fashion, even the rich and the middle income people wear this. What annoys me is that sometimes even in church people wear flip flops. I believe that we should be wearing formal wear when in church and not just using what we used for our everyday wear.

Old Navy has some great deals during the spring and summer seasons, and you can purchase several pairs of flip flops in vrious colors for something like $10. I'm old-fashioned, I guess, when it comes to church. I have to wear pantyhose, and I feel badly if I wear pants, even if it's a suit. I can't believe some kids go in ripped up jeans and flip flops. I know God doesn't care what you wear to worship in, but I feel it's a respect thing.

Comfortable Yes,but Professional No!There is a time and place for everything. You are not supposed to be casual at your workplace hence there is a dress code out that lays the dos and donts as well. However I would definitely like wearing flip flops when I am out of office and on casual outings
