Although I cook dinner most of the time,I'm not a good cook.I'm kind of new to real cooking,I'm looking for some recipes that don't require spending too much time in the kitchen. I don't want to cook very difficult dishes, that would only frustrate me.
So I guess I shall start with the easy ones.I looked up the cousin tutorial. It seems that some, like stir-fries, take only minutes to make. Others, such as soups and stews, take longer but still consist of only a few simple steps, leaving you lots of free time while the food is simmering.
Fortunately for me,many Chinese recipes are quick and easy to make. Some can be made with ingredients that are available at most local supermarkets. That's great! So I will start with the easy ones?
Do you cook?Do you enjoy cooking? I think that would be new and interesting.

i loved cooking. in fact i've started cooking at 12 years old. but i don't think i can help you with the recipes that's easy to do. because almost all of the recipes i knew takes a lot of time. but if you like doing the ones that you can leave while simmering you can try this one.
ingredients:
kenchi (beef) in thin cube-like cuts
soy sauce
calamansi
butter
carrots cut into thin and short pieces
mushroom sliced into pieces
cream of mushroom
1. boil kenchi into soysauce and calamansi (try mixing the soysauce and calamansi in pan so you can taste it first before putting the beef. it should have balance taste of sour and salty.) add some water.
2. boil until beef is tender
3. put the butter in another pan. use it as a cooking oil.
4. put the carrots and the mushroom. let simmer until cook.
5. put the beef together with the sauce and the cream of mushroom.
6. let boil until cream of mushroom is cooked.

I like cooking. When I was a teen my mom worked from 4 pm until 12am and dad worked from like 8 in the morning until 8 at night. So I learned to cook when I was a teen, Me and my sister use to take turns cooking, Well not really turns back than she was only good at frying so I do most of the cooking. I started off with easier things and worked my way up, I find one of the easiest things to make is an eye roast which a lot of people call a roast beef. Just trim the fat off and put into a 350 degree oven and bake for about an hour and a half, Though small potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish that you are using to cook the meat in, about an hour into the cooking throw a can of gravy into the bottom of the pan, than simmer some fresh corn on the cob, roast beef, browned potatoes and fresh corn. It's the easiest meal, not a lot of dishes and best of all it looks like you did a lot.

Hi gxnfly! I do cook and I am the one who prepares our daily meals everyday. I learned how to cook only when I got married and I am quite proud of what I have accomplished since then. I have a lot of cookbooks and still search in the internet for new recipes that are mouth watering yet very simple to do. I never knew I could enjoy cooking so much because I never cooked when I was still single and young but now, I do enjoy cooking and especially feel happy when hubby loves the dishes I have made.
Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

I cook but I really cannot say that I enjoy it these days. I am always working seven days per week for alot of hours each day and I really do not have the time to cook something slowly and the way that I would really like to cook it. We are always in a hurry around here to get something to eat and lay down or get some other things done. I do like to cook when I have the time to though.

I think there are a lot of recipes online that you can experiment with. Nowadays there are lot of ready to cook packets available that are so very convenient to cook.

Yeah, I love to cook and I guess I have a talent for it. I can easy come up with new recipes out of the left-overs in the ref. It's not that I love experimenting, I also don't like food wasted so I always have new dish out of the left-overs. You are right, a lot of Chinese recipes are easy and quick fix like stir-fries (I love them) But coming here to US I found out too that there are lots of easy American dish too. And when I ran out of ideas, it is easy to find too, like the 30-minutes meal by Rachael Ray. She has a lot of different recipes for "hamburger" alone and that I think is awesome because you will never get tired of eating hamburgers.
You can check this website http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_tm for more ideas for easy fix meal. Have fun cooking.

I have been cooking since I could reach a counter. And most of my family is from the south, so the women definitely spent a lot of time in the kitchen....as did I because of this.
I guess b/c I've always known my way around the stove and cupboards I have taken for granted that others are new to it. But I will tell you this once you start cooking and get really good at it, you will be amazed how much you will begin to enjoy it.
My mother, who loves to take short cuts with cooking has influenced me as well. She is from up North. She can take a potatoe, a small piece of left over meat from the night before, plus a little of this and a little of that and make a really good meal....
And you are right definitely start with the easy one dish meals first. My suggestion is check out casseroles....oh and I have a really simple one (my momma thought up years ago when we were kids and my brothers played baseball.) if you like pork chops....and don't want to spend anytime slaving over the stove.
Good luck and check out a variety of one dish cook books....oh and if you want to learn short cuts...watch Rachel Ray....I learned how to make meatballs in 30 minutes on her show, with homemade marinara (YUMMMMMMM)
