I don't play baseball so why should I wear a baseball cap?

What is it with baseball caps? Why does everyone from 0 to 100, male or female, feel that they have to wear one - all the time in some cases. This is a comparatively recent addition to the English hat wearer. But we seem to be lapping them up. The only possible use I can see for them is to keep the sun out of your eyes on a bright day. But they have become part of the uniform. Are you a baseball cap wearer? Do you ever take it off? Why do you like to wear it? Do you have to for your work? Now where's mine - I'm off fishing and I wouldn't be without it.

I never wear a baseball cap p1ke darling - not very feminine is it? On the other hand I can't do ballet dancing but I still like wearing a tutu! xxx

That's Too Too much Mummymo. LOL. To me you are ultra feminine, even a baseball cap would be perfection on you.

It's the curse of 'casual dress'! It also covers, bad hair, dirty hair, no hair and liver spots! So I guess I'll be bringing my baseball cap collection with me to Jolly Old. LOL

My caps are felt, tweed, cotton and horse hair. Choose your favorite and wear it with pride! LOL

I don't wear hats at all. My husband hardly ever leaves the house unless he has a baseball cap on. they are usually camoflauge hats though because he loves hunting. I cut his hair and get it looking nice and he will still throw a hat on his head. My husbands wears one every day and even to work.

LOL. I bet you despair when you have just done his hair and he promptly covers it up. But what makes him want to wear his cap all day long? Maybe it is habit. I can understand that.

I don't wear them. I actually look quite ridiculous in hats, but my son likes them and yes, in Phoenix, keeping the sun out of your eyes is a good idea. I just bought him about 5 caps. Got quite a deal on them too. They usually go for about $40 and I was able to buy them at .75 a piece. Lucky me. Or should I say lucky him, he was quite thrilled.

I would have thought a hat was essential in Phoenix. My wife is always trying to get me to wear a wide brimmed one, but I'd just look like a 1950s spy. Sounds like you managed a few bargains there for your son though. You have five days of the week covered now, what's he going to do on the weekends? LOL.

I said to myself "bet Cyn wears one from time to time". Blow this though - how did the "prom" go? If I haven't heard by tomorrow I shall have to post a discussion about adults that still "Promenade". LOL.

I would normally say that you could never catch me in a baseball cap, but just today, right before I went out to do my crossing guard, it started raining. The Director was just coming in as I was saying that I hadn't brought my hat and he took his baseball cap off of his head and handed it to me to use. Well, why not? After all, it was raining. So I put it on and wore it for the 20 minutes that I was outside. But I have to say, I can't remember when I've ever worn a baseball cap other than this morning. NOT my thing at all, nope. I love hats but they bug me really quickly, so I end up taking them off. I'll wear them in the winter, but take them off as soon as I possibly can. My husband wears a baseball cap all the time when he's not at work. He always has, since the day I first saw him. No, he's not bald. In fact, he has a full head of long, curlyish, mostly gray hair and I love it. But he loves his caps, and that's pretty much that. It's like I said in another one of your posts - if it suits you, wear it. You, however, are one that I can't visualize in a baseball cap. It seems very contrary to your nature. Best to leave it to fishing. Oh, and I LOVE lilac! When they're in bloom, they smell like heaven. Be sure to include them in Goodie's posy of flowers please. I'm going to plant a lilac bush in my own little yard very soon. Think about snapping a pic of yours, if your would, and posting it. I'd love to see it.

I think that you would look very fetching in a lilac baseball cap!! Scented of course. I can see you on the crossing, guiding your little charges across as the excitedly prepare for the new day. I'd hurry if I thought that Nova was on crossing duty in her baseball cap!!

Now keeping the paint off your head makes complete sense. It's breezy here, but not too cold. I fly fish Gabs so I keep on the move and I have never once been bored. I love nature and often spend my time watching birds and animals along the river banks. It also gives me a good opportunity to think about things that may be worrying me. If I am very lucky, I might also catch a trout for my tea too. XX

I do not wear one for the most part. but it has been proven that wearing a hat while in class has showen that students do better they payattention more because it blocks out objects and centers their focus on looking at the teacher as to what it around is blocked. I will see if I can redig up the research on it.
@p1kef1sh (45681)

Really? Any child in my class that wore a baseball hat, or any hat, would have no problem paying attention. In fact they be in detention. I'd like to see that research if you can find it. Thank you.

No p1key....I am not a Base-ball cap wearer. I wear them for a while , But then I get Bored w/ them. Perhaps this is why I only have One set of teenie-tiny earrings , and Zero Tattoos. I know Me......I'm Fickle. I don't do too well with Artificial Dress up stuff. That's how I view Hats. I love Make-up ....when done in a tasteful Manner...." Less is More " I love parfum , again when it is a lite-flowery scent not a Musk ( YUCK!!!!! to me....and it's just my Opinion.....Musk PErfume is Cheap ) I'd rather wear none at all , rather than the stuff you can buy by the quart! Hats are the Same for Me.....I like hats that either compliment my Femininity , or add to my Tom-Boy ( Impish ) Feel of the Day! But I don't like hats that make me look like a BAg-Lady! Nope....I guess I'm not really a hat person either. Besides....My head is Odd-Shaped , which makes it hard to find proper fitting Hats!

I am not a hat person. There's daft and P1ke in a hat daft!! Both my wife and I wear scents that are mixed in London by a very clever lady named Angela Flanders. She will make them to order if you wish. Right now I am wearing "Water of Portugal". No, it doesn't smell of fish!!

I have one baseball cap. I got it at Disney World. It is a cream color and in light pink letters it says Princess. I wear it when I am having a bad hair day. I just pull my hair back into a pony tail and throw that hat on. I hardly ever wear it but I am glad to have it for when I do need it! My husband doesn't wear baseball caps very often. He has a couple. I like it when he wears his New York Yankees cap and a hoodie sweatshirt. He looks very cute.

I am sure that you look pretty on a bad hair day or not. Clearly these hats have their uses if one can make your husband look more desirable than usual. LOL.

Ive never worn one in my life !!lol..methinks id looka a little strange in one too...but as a sun visor or a camoulflage ..lol..yes they are ok I suppose.If Mr Ruby wore one I think i would wet my self!!!!...he was known a few years ago to purchaes a Nike sweatband.to wear when he dug the garden...well what a sight!!!lololol....but as he said it did the job...and didi it well!!..he still has it tucked in his knicker draw...but im not really madly keen on baseball caps Piky...I can take them or leave them...
@p1kef1sh (45681)

They do keep the sun off Ruby. But that's about it. If I find my fishing cap in the car when we are out shopping I have been know to stick it on my head to annoy Mrs P1ke. We've never managed to get more than five paces from the car before I am brought donw by a sudden blow to the head by a "bag for life". Something of a misnomer when it is connecting with the cranium!

cm'n men excluding on protecting the head.. its a fashion.. it adds to your looks... and somehow it make older people younger... :))
@p1kef1sh (45681)

I am afraid that it doesn't make me look good. I think that older men (and I am one) just look daft in them, not younger. Now a proper trilby or wide brimmed hat, that's different. LOL.

I don't wear baseball caps at all, because I am not a "hat person". It seems I have a large or oddly shaped head, or something...hats do not sit right on my head. Also when I went to college in FL, it was something of a trend when one didn't want to spend too much time on hair, to put a ponytail through the back of it. It seemed it was always a certain type of girl that would do this, the kind I did not like, so I avoided the trend, as I avoided most trends (though sadly not the '80s perm. lol). I can see the benefit to wearing the hat when out doing sports in the sun. That's why I hang out in the shade drinking margaritas. :)

my son often wear baseball cap especially if he got a new hair cut since his short hair stand after cutting...and coz of the weather..meaning if the rays of the sun is biting our skin..

I can understand wanting to keep the sun off. That make sense. Thanks Vanities.

my son used to wear an old battered up white sox cap but I have no idea why outside of the fact that he is 'always after me to wear a hat outside to protect my eyes. I think he now has a cap of a different color but he does wear a cap to protect his eyes. Me I hate to wear hats as they always leave me with hat hair. lol.

Since I am female and females don't wear the caps as much as males, I really can't answer this one from my point of view.. I do not know what the fascination is with these caps, but they are a big business.. I have seen my son pay upwards of 20.00 for one and more if it was fitted.. I tried to keep him from doing this, and warned him that it can make you go bald, but he didn't listen.. He is a baseball cap wearer, but his dad isn't.. Maybe it does keep the sun out of your eyes, might have to get one for myself next time I am out in the garden..

hi there! you do have a point about wearing a baseball cap and you don't even play the game. well, i'm a girl and I like wearing baseball caps especially when we're out on trips and it is really hot outside. I like wearing it because it's kinda stylish, cool and it helps your head to not get hot.
