Imagine what would have happened to Bill Gates and his Windows if computers did not have mouse.

We would have to go back into the mists of time. Back to the days of DOS and text only programs. I remember it well and amazingly enough, I could still type a letter, work a spreadsheet and query a database with Lotus123 without a mouse. Having just paid big money to get Office2007 I wonder if I would just be better off with Lotus123!! haha

yes, I agree with u. many people replied that they would have used touchpads. I would say touchpads are nothing but advance version of mouse. When I say mouse, I did not mean by physical device, but the pointer on screen.

I was teaching computer courses long before there were computer mice (mouses) and we all did just fine. I think people have become slow with their computers because they rely on the mouse or touch pad way too much. Keyboard short cuts are the quickest way to do a lot of things faster. I use a mouse, a touch pad and a drawing tablet and would not want to do without them but I can if I have to. Most people would be totally lost if they had to stop using a point device.

Try Flight Simulator with just your cursor keys! haha Or Photoshop or AutoCad come to that.

True, most people do not even realize that you don't need a mouse! You can do nearly everything on the computer without it. It is cumbersome at first, as most people are not used to it, but once you get used to just using a keyboard, you realize that using the mouse is SLOWER in almost every case!

When I started using computer there were no mouse yet. Before it they introduce this wired pen, I still think it is more natural to use it than the mouse.

Ah yes, the tablet is good kit. I was thinking of the mouse in pen form without the tablet. I seem to remember someone made one years back. A bit bulky as a pen but more natural to use.

People would end up knowing more about how PC's actually work. They'd have to use the CLI (assuming the touchpad counts as a mouse), so they'd know much more about directory hierarchies, etc. The GUI probably would have never been implemented.

Not suprising when you talk of a mouse and not the cursor. haha

yes u r right. I agree with you. People why says to use touchpads should know that touchpads are nothing but advance version of mouse. When I said mouse, I actually mean pointer on screen and not the physical device. Only 2 out of 7 responses catch the point.

A computer without mouse is just like a car without steering. It simply slow down your navigation.Imagine playing games with your keyboard. Mouse is the greatest navigation invention for pc,speed up your programm handling. The mouse with the optical snesor is the best as you don't have to roll it but make sure you put a light colour piece of layer below it for the light to reflect.
