There are many situations in life when we are affraid to make a call, for example, to tell the boss that you are not coming to work today, to call someone to ask for money, to call mom to say I am sorry or many other situations. There are people who are not affraid to make a call, but for me it is always so hard to make a call especially when I know that the person on the other side is not happy to hear me. What about you. Do you have "phone phobia"? How do you cope with it?

This is not about phone phobia.
It is about you being in the wrong. You know it... and you know what the answer will be before you even make the call.
The way to cope with it is not to call... as it will only put you further in the pooh than you already are.
Nothing is free in this life... and you cannot ask for anything unless you have something to give in return. And even when you have something to give... if you want money... people will exploit you by wanting twice as much for their money that they would expect from a total stranger.
You have to remain in control of your life at all cost. It is far better to go without a meal than owning something to someone.

Yes, it is really hard to make that phone call. For me, I would still make that phone call.

you sound exactly like me. i hated when i would have to call work and say i could not come in. i hate confrontation really and if someone is mad at m even if it is only in their head and i did not do anything wrong i find it hard to approach them. it has gotten a bit easier as i have gotten older and wiser and care less what others think of me but it is still hard nonetheless. i love email for that reason!!! email is the best thing in the world if you ask me. i don't know how or if i can overcome this completely but i force myself to just do it most times because i have to.

Im terrified of phoning people, i really hate talking over the phone, i know the way they'll act on the other end, and when i phone for school i'm afraid they'll start asking questions for why i've been off or not doing P.E. I try practicing the call before i actually call tem and think of all the questions or things they'll say before so i can prepare some answers for them. At the end of the call i feel alot better.

I do when I did something wrong or when I have upset someone in my family or a friend and need to call and apologize. Or when like if I am not going to go somewhere or canceling a doctor's appointment. Like last week when I was suppose to go to my Urologist I had to miss it because of mother nature. So I had no choice.

I never have a hard time making phone calls. I think it is so much easier to call people than to tell them something in person, especially if it is bad news.
I don't know how to advise you from phone phobia. I guess the more you make these types of calls, the easier they et.
I use to run a business where calling for parties was part of the business. I would call and not stop until I hit my goal of so many yes' .

Hi soleya! I could not make a call when I need someone for help especially money matters. In fact whenever I try to make that phone call I just ended up saying other things instead of the real reason why I called. I just can't bring myself to ask anyone for money even if I really need it badly.
Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!

I usually deal with it by visualizing the worst that they can say or react and then planning how to deal with it. I write things down so I won't be caught speechless! Once I have a plan on how to deal with the situation, I'm less reluctant to make the call.
I certainly know what you mean, though. I've been delaying calling my temporary employment services because their answer is always that they can't use me this week. I'm finding it very, very depressing to deal with this continued rejection even though I know it's not personal. Same with applying for permanent jobs!

well, i also face the similar situation. especially if my boss ask me to call someone to ask something that (i think) shouldn't be done, coz that can make him (someone i have to talk to) feeling bad.

I tend to do the things I dread the most first and get
it over with like calling in ill. the longer you put
it off the harder it is and then you get an irate person
on the other end which does not help you in the least.I
dont like to call people when I know they will not be
happy with me so thats why I just grit my teeth and do it
first before I think about it too long.

I never care for phone calls.. I don't ever like to make them! And whenever the phone rings, I usually will mutter under my breath! No, I'm not a phone person at all! I'd much rather write any time!

Fortunately for me, I have never been afraid of making calls, or better to say that I do not have to face such situations. Whenever I feel the need to contact a person, be it my boss, clients, friends or anybody else for any reason whatsoever, I go ahead boldly.
If you have a phobia of this sort, I would advise you to get out of it. There is nothing wrong and the world around you will not change all of a sudden just because some mindless creature lost his cool while taking over someone over phone.
If you are sincere enough in discharging your duties, you have no reason to be worried before making a call. I have also observed that people tend to take advantage from a hesitant caller, or more badly, ignore such calls.
Therefore, be bold while calling, after all the person can do little harm but to shout at you!

i dont have phone phobias. and if a call is really important, i will have to make the call without thinking twice, to boss, parents, partners or friends. if i am worng i admit and will say sorry personal and if the only means is the phone, then so be it - i will call them right away.

I definitely have a phone phobia. no one wants to hear what I have to say anyway. I will call someone and they will not even let me speak. They tell me all about themselves and their problems and never even let me say one word. I hate talking on the phone anyway. i like to say what I have to say and get off of there. I have dialup and I cannot make money by sitting on the phone anyway.

It's not a problem for me at all. I'm not afraid to call my boss or if I was wrong I'll call and say I'm sorry. The only thing I was afraid is to call my boyfriend first. When I was sitting and waiting for his call, thinking if it's ok if I call him. But at the end I called first and it appeared that he was waiting for my call.
