Survive England and you'll survive anywhere in the world?

Is this true at all? I once lived there for a year only and my mom told me that once we survived England, we can stay anywhere in the world because we have experienced different weather and temperature there. Is this somehow true at all?

We have a very temperate climate here in Britain. It rarely gets to hot or to cold and though it can rain quite a bit, its rarely to heavy or to much and it rarely gets to dry either. altogether a not bad place to live.

You said it right! Its not a bad place to live - that is why I am planning to migrate there. Although they are very strict - I want to go back there again. Even though they say that its so expensive there - I dont care. Nothing is expensive as long as your work and have money to spend, right?

Britain is expensive and even if you have work, you might find it a struggle to make ends meet especially in the south of England as property rents there are very high. As a general rule, the further north you go, the cheaper it is but it's still expensive compared with some other countries in Europe.

I've visited England 3 times and found it to be a fun place to visit with pretty good weather. As long as you like rain and unpredicatable temps. I think you will like England. Here in Central Virginia where I live you can have unpredictable weather also. Although in the summer you can be quite sure it is going to be hot!!

I visited England many years ago and found it to be lovely. Although they did have quite a bit of rain it was still nice. Where did you live before moving to England? Although the weather there is unpredictable, it is not extreme like in some other places I have been.

loved1, I live here in the Philippines, a tropical country... but I transferred there and studied for a year because of my dad's schooling in the royal military school in berkshire. :D We stayed in Camberley surrey. I want to go there again!

Hmm, well I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. The weather in the UK can be changeable but it is not extreme like in some countries. Yes it rains, more so in the west, but we do have some lovely hot weather sometimes as good or better than other parts of Europe. But you do have to be prepared for anything really, just when you think there's a nice hot spell and you get used to it, it changes so deciding what to wear can be a bit of a nightmare!

tizlizzy, deciding what to wear is a bit of a nightmare? no! I love it! when I lived there for a year (south - surrey), I enjoyed it - I can wear short skirts in the summer and my favorite trousers and sweatpants in the winter. I also love EVERYTHING there. Yes the weather is changeable thats why I told my mom that its not true at all. She said "Yeah but I told you so - in a good view".

Yeah, we have a lot of different weathers and tempretures. Every day even if the weather forecast says something it will quite often turn out to be different. But I wouldn't say you are prepared for anywhere. I mean we get really hot weather sometimes (30 degrees) but not often. We also don't get really cold winters, it is only less than half the winter that is gets below zero in the daytime. Plus we don't have the high risks of tornados, earthquakes and hurricanes.

I am 40 years old and I have lived in England all my life and love it. I have also done quite a lot of travelling within Europe and seen many other countries. I love England and think it has an amazing amount of history and culture. I love visiting different places, going to the theatre and so on. What didn't you like about England?

I thought that was New York??? You know Frank Sinatra's song New York, New York with these lyrics..."If I can make it there, Ill make it anywhere". If you're talking about the weather, I guess it will be a challenge for you or for anyone to live in the desert, after experiencing England's weather.
