Do you check out a person's profile before adding them as a friend?

Most times I simply click the accept button when someone requests to be my friend on MyLot. But, there have been a few times when I'm thinking about asking someone to be my friend that I have clicked through to see their profile. Usually, the person is talking about tons of stuff that I know nothing about. Or, they're into things that I have no interest in.
So, I guess it pays to check out the profile first, before adding someone as a friend on MyLot. How do you handle this type of situation? Do you check out the profile first to see if you have anything in common with the person? Or, do you simply add them as friend anyway, without a background check? Would love to hear your opinion on this?

I always check out the profile very carefully and also check out their discussions and responses too. you can tell a lot from the way a person responds to discussions and also it is wise to check out their interests. Where is the point in adding someone who only wants to tout their get rich quick schemes or has no mutual interests.

I hate the get rich schemers too. I'm getting rich slow. Guess that's the only real way to do it. Just smart thinking and wise investments.

till now i didn't think about that, i never check the profile before. but i think i have to do too. i know that no one can get rich quickly. i like quality discussions. and most of the time i try to responding, because i feel difficulty to create new response.

I do check out the profile because I want to see in there is at least a few of their discussions are things that would be interesting to me. If there is nothing of interest I generally decline to add them. It is nothing against the person but friends to me are people that have some things in common. So I do check out a profile before I add them to my friend list.

I usually check the profile of those members who are requesting friendship here in myLot. At least to know in what country they are in, their interest and the discussions they had posted. Before, I usually accepts friend's request right away, but now, I wait before accepting friends, if they participate or respond in my topic discussions, then I will add them.

Since joining MYLOT I send a friend request once. The person sends a negative responds to me and because of this I do not send another request. I receive friend request by way of answering positive to other mylotters discussion and they send friend request which I have accepted.

I always go to their profile and check. Why? Because I've found that there are certain people who write discussions that are too graphic in nature and I know I wouldn't ever respond to them. If most of their questions are pertaining to life in the bedroom, or specifics of it, then I would never respond to them, so it would be pointless to add them to the friends list. I've only ever refused a few, almost all I have added to the list. Some people are only there to add their links to their own websites, or something they're selling (etc), and they're not here for discussions, just to promote their own concerns...then no, I wouldn't add them. Then there's the ones who only answer 'yes' or 'no' and don't say much more than one sentence...that's not really a discussion. Just my widdle opinion lol

Thanks John...I thought it was a fun avatar. Kinda fits me too hahaha, I'm always running around, and quite often I find myself going in circles.

I do check out their profile before adding them. If they do not have anything posted that interests me or don't answer topics that interest me, I do not accept.

well, actually it is really important to check the profile before adding someone. just because it isnt very safe to trust anyone...
so just hav a look at their profile... most of the times you get to know from the id itself whether its a fake account or something..
it always safer to view profile before adding!

Yes, I usually do look.
I also pay attention to see if I recognize them from other discussions. I tend to stay away from the "friend collectors". Those are the ones that I am typically spammed by. I have declined only a handful of requests in my stay here.

I just add them casually ,like accept the request button that's it nothing much for I am not here to socialize so I just add the request and when I get any private mails or queries then I do see and go through the persons profile.

If someone asks me to be their friend I accept it without looking at their profile. I am just proud they want to be my friends. It is really nice to have them. It doesn't matter if their discussions are off sometimes as long as they want me I accept.

I can answer this with just one word ...NO
I have yet to check a profile before approving a friend request.
Most of the time it will be from someone who has an interest in
some discussion I started or one I have responded to. So I assume
we have at least one thing in common. What I really like is when
there is an age difference. I like to get the opinions from a younger
person as well as from people in their middle years or older.
It like we have agreed to disagree or stick together on the same level.
