The Death Sentence ... Agree or Disagree

I have been debating the death sentence for people convicted of murder and aiding in a murder for some time now. Even from the people who are Christians there is a conflict. Some will say that we should not judge and take another life because that would make us a murderer. Others will say an eye for an eye. Even a dispute between those who have had loved ones murdered have said that they would rather they live and be miserable for the rest of their lives. Others say that they don't want to pay to have this person live their natural life and say that there is no justice in letting them live. There aren't that many civilized countries that still have the death sentence ... what do you think?
