Does your cat ever step in your food?

My cat has an annoying habit of jumping on the counter in the kitcehn while I am making dinner. He has even stepped in a bowl. He ambushed me while I was at the fridge looking for butter and jumped up on the counter and landed in the food. Gross!
I know that sounds more like what a dog would do. But he's an unusual cat.
Anyway, nowadays, when I prepare dinner, he goes into the laundry room. Does your cat do things like that? Does your cat jump up on the counters or dinner table to get your food?

No, he never jumps up on the counter or the table, but once or twice he has stood on his hind legs and put his paws up on the edge of the dinner table and sniffed around. However the minute that we say get down then he runs away because he knows better. Sometimes if we have something on the coffee table he will walk by with his tail high in the air and his tail will get into our food or drinks and I just can't stand that! I don't think he does that on purpose I think he is just looking for us to pet him.

yeah..that is normal..cats like to explore everything...wandering into everything...nosy and snooping around...like private eyes...i just tell him to get down...more like shout it...and he gets scared and jumps off...

We don't generally have a problem with our cat doing that. If we leave a loaf of bread or something out on the counter and actually leave the house, sometimes she gets into it, but that's about it.
Our new dog is horrible about getting into stuff on the counters, though. She's just a puppy (she will be 2 in September, but she still definitely has puppy behaviors), and we had her for just over a month before we went on vacation for a month and a half, so we just haven't had enough time to really train her well. Yesterday she got into the pizza pasta that I made for lunch. I left it sitting on the stove, while we were eating in the dining room, and she just walked into the kitchen and helped herself.

My mad moggie, Moomin, will sometimes jump up onto the kitchen worktops, but he's usually pushed off just as quickly. He knows he's not allowed on there, but he will try anyway. He has jumped onto the dining table a few times too, but so far he's jumped down again quickly, knowing that he is in trouble. These days I put Moomin's food down for him at the same time as we eat our meals, so he has his own dinner to occupy himself

Guess I have been lucky. Never had a cat step in my food. That would be awful. Maybe they don't jump on the counter while I am preparing my food is because I always feed my animals while I am fixing my food so they are all busy eating themselves. And if they run out of food while I am still fixing food, I just give them a tiny bit more. Keeps them busy and happy. I do have to watch two of my cats though, cause they do sometimes jump up on the counter but not very often, thank heavens.

I have been trying to teach my kitties to not jump up on the counters they get the spray bottle if they do. I do not want cats on my counters they do tend to sneak into the fridge when you open it I think they like the cold air coming out of it.

Hi beautyqueen. Yes, one of my cats did it all his life. Now he passed away very old. But I needed to put him in the bedroom and close the door if I wanted to make the dinner without him stolen the food lol. Specialy if I used pure of tomatoes or olives that he loved the most. It is a funny thing now to remember.

My cat wouldn't ever step in food.... But she does a good job of eating it or even stealing it from you AS you are eating it. Once she even bit a square off of my chocolate bar, ran away, and i found her eating it on the kitchen floor.
Cats can be very strange...
