ideas and inventions

I have an idea, an invention and wanted to know if anyone has every done anything like this and know how to go about getting it started? My invention is a revolutionary idea that will change garage doors to a whole new level. If you have any suggestions on how to go about this please share with me or if you may be interested in this idea and would like to know more about it let me know? Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

Build a prototype with all the specs. Have it patented. Then you have to find investors, venture capitalists, people who will invest in your idea to bring it to the market. Or you can try and sell it to a company. Just don't let the secret out before you have it patented or you run the risk that somebody will take your idea and beat you to the patent punch line. A patent lawyer would be able to provide you with more information. Just don't buy any of those patent kits that are on the market. Most of that stuff is just plain old junk.

thanks for the advice I have done that before through inventors organizations and they took the idea and after giving feed back on it they took it and sold it off to pay for there time and what have you and believe it or not you can buy it still at many stores. the plastic blade weed eater attachment. yeah I was scammed big time and there was nothing they could do about it. It was all legal. I have been working on a prototype but at my own cost and it has been an expense that I can no longer invest into at the moment.Again thank you for all your help

The patenting process is a little complicated. You should read everything you can find on it before you get started. A few of the things I have read about it involve having notorized documents of your invention to prove that you are the inventor. Also it is good to do a patent search and ascertain that somebody has not already had the same idea ahead of you. Good luck!

i have done a search on the invention and have found nothing about it and also have asked some installers and company owners if they have ever seen anything like it. Had one company ask the people he gets his products from to see if they have anything out there close to it and nothing. So i know as of right now it don't exist. But I have to act fast if I am to be the first one to do this. thanks for your advice...it helped
