It is starting to become quite cold here in Downunder, lol, it was 8 degrees last night. I know some of you are probably thinking that is not cold at all, but I find it freezing. I much prefer summer, I like to be warm, if I find it too hot I will just sit in the air conditioning lol. BUt when you are cold sometimes it does not matter how much you rug up you are still cold.
So which do you prefer summer or winter? How cold does your temperatures get in winter?

hmmm i cant answer that question because we only have two seasons here. rainy days and sunny days. i experienced snow once when i worked at japan, but it was just a drizzle and it was a great feeling. when it is hot here in the phillipines sometimes i wish for snow but when i see the snow on tv during news its kinda scarry

So what two seasons do you get there? That would be annoying having alot of rainy days. I have only seen the snow a couple of times, it does not snow where I live. It snows in the Snowy Mtns in Australia which is in another state I live in Queensland. I like the snow but only in moderation as it would be too cold to live there all the time.

we only have hot sunny days and rainy days. i envy countries with four seasons coz we have a year of hot and rain only. but imagining countries with four season they have specific clothes to go with that season then that would be very expensive for my budget lol. i am a single mom of four children. it is really annoying to have a lot of rainy days and long hot days too.

When I first read your post I was thrown by the temp! What? And then you said about being Downunder..oh, you have winter when I have summer! LOL
It is rather cool here for the time of year. We are running about 60 in the day and can drop to about 40 at night. It will warm up later in the summer to surpass the 90 degree mark. In the winter we can dive way below -20. We actually had 3 days in a row with schools closed due to snow drifts. You have not idea what 'the happy snow-day dance' looks until you see a teacher do it. Not only am I 'forced' to take the day off but I get paid for it!
Tell me more about Australia! Please! I would love to visit there!

Yeah I know, sometimes we forget that people here in mylot are from all over the world. 60 in the day, how many degrees celsius is that? Gee school closed because of snow drifts, I bet some kids would love it when that happens, lol. I am a teacher, I should come over there and do the happy snow dance lol, that would be awesome. We aren't so lucky here, us teachers, we don't get the day off on school days. So you are a teacher too, you must be pretty good at this snow dancing huh??
What do you want to know about Australia, ask away? Happy to tell you anything you want to know about Australia. Overall it is pretty laid back, great beaches, beautiful place and nice people of course.

As you can probably note from my screen name- I love the warmer weather. I dread winter and anticipate the spring because I know summer is soon to follow. I am getting ready early this year and already bought two new bathing suits- as I plan to be at the beach EVERY weekend this year ;)

Yes your name fits this discussion quite well, lol. I can see from your avatar that you love the summer, kicking back in the pool. I wait for summer to come, then I do not take advantage of the great weather enough. This year I plan on going to the beach more too. Have fun at the beach!

It seems weird to think of it being cold where you are, especially at this time of the year when we are supposed to be heading into our summer!!
I hate the cold, I feel the cold so quickly, I am never warm, I wish that I did not feel it so quickly because in the winter time I can never get warm at all.
I cannot wait for the warmer weather to come, we did have beautiful weather a week ago, but now it has gone and it has been really cold again, I think today it is about 18 degrees, a week ago it was 24 degrees. I am freezing today. In winter I think our temperatures go to about - 4 onwards.

Yes it is weird how over the other side of the world we are in opposite seasons, lol. -4 degrees that is freezing, I don't know if I could handle that, my nose would be like Rudolf, lol and my fingers and toes would get frost bite. No wonder you can't wait till Summer. I guess we don't have it so bad here in Australia after all.

Hello there, I prefer summer more than the winter although the climate here is tropical and the temperature is about 10 Centigrade in winter. But the cold is with dampness and chill. Therefore, reason 1) many people will catch a cold or be sick easily in winter. My daughter and I will have a cold as well. 2) There is limitation to have an outdoor activity or exercise in winter. But in summer, there are lots of choices – beach, BBQ, kinds of parties, cycling, jogging and so on.

I would perfer the summer of the winter anyday. You don't have to worry about coats, boots, hats. I like the warm better than the cold. If i had a choice of living somewhere hot or cold I would choose the hot climate over the cold anyday.

I hate hate hate hate winter!! I am sick of having to drag a coat everywhere I go, remember some gloves if it's really really cold out, and trying to warm up by a fireplace all the time. I love summer because you can go outside wearing anything, not grabbing a coat and boots, and just enjoy the sun. Walking the dogs are more enjoyable, swimming is my favorite activity to do and I love getting a tan. Most of all, it's not too cold to do anything in the summer. Want to go swimming? Go swimming. Want to go on a boat? Go on a boat. Want to go ride a 4 wheeler? Go ride one! :D

Great response, there are so many more choices in summer and it is alot more fun. It is annoying in winter having to take a coat everywhere I agree. Lucky here in Australia we don't get that cold where we have to wear gloves.

Hi Kiran! It is very hot summer out here in our place. Sweating lot. Very difficult to work without AC. While it is hot, diseases like conjectivities apreads. I do not like summer, instead prefer winter when cold is at sustainable level.

Hi snakequeen, I did not think about the spread of diseases in summer that would be horrible. No air conditioning, that is awful, what temperature does it get to in summer where you live?

I much prefer summer (and spring) over winter. In fact, for years I lived in the south of the US, just so I would not experience too much cold (and no snow!).
I've never enjoyed cold weather or snow, not even when I was a child and cold sled ride or make snowmen.
Now that I'm older and have a touch of arthritis, the cold and damp weather is torture to my weary bones.

That would be hard in the cold weather when you have arthiritus, hope it is not too painful for you. Can't believe you did not like making snowmen and sled rides that would have been awesome, wish I had snow when I was younger but only on occassions, not all the time. As it would be too cold.

well there are things i like about both seasons to be sure. i like the cooler weather because i hate to sweat and do not do well in the heat but i do not like the fact that it gets dark early. i find it depressing. i like summer for the long days and the sunshining most of the time but i hate the heat and humidity. i can deal with 75 degrees or so but much hotter and i need shade or air conditioning. i like the fact that my son is off from school in the summer and love our lazy, carefree days together and will always cherish them.

Indiana has very unpredictable weather. while I was in Florida in January ( usually below zero at that time)the weather was very warm in the 50's. then when we returned a huge snow storm hit, but it totally dodged my town. Two hours away from here... 12 inches were dumped. Summer's can be in the 70's- all the way to the heat wave records of 107 last year. I just really hate being cold. My bones ache with the cold air and the shivering, so my pick is summer. I can always jump in a pool and cool off!

I hate the cold weather, so summer is my favourite season. I also find that no matter how many layers I wear, I simply can't warm up when it's cold. I also have trouble functioning properly and just feel sluggish all day when it's cold, which isn't fun.
I'm not looking forward to returning to Melbourne later this year after spending the past two years in Southern China, which has 9 - 10 months of warm to hot weather.

I prefer summer better. I like living in NY because i get all of the seasons here but about halfway through the winter I am ready for it to be over and the warmth to come back! It gets down to at least 20 to thirty below at many times here and the wind chill is just BITTER. I am loving the fact that summer is finally here and I can enjoy the warm weather. The worst part about it is that is seems like we have about nine months of winter and three months of summer.

That is a good idea working out during the winter, alot of people tend to overeat during winter and not exercise as much as it is too cold. Then they have to work it off in summer. What temperature does it reach in summer in your country?

I need the sun and warmth or I get in little funks of sadness. There is more for me to do in the summer . I miss swimming and baseball too much in the winter. Snow is very pretty I would have to say!
