i am sure most of you know someone or has someone in their family that is gay. since matthew shepard bills have been passed that were ment to end any hate crimes against homosexuals, and let me tell you, they have done no good. so thinking about this one person or people you might know, and keeping an open mind, would you not fight if the laws were reversed on you and there was a ban on straight marriage? what if you and your husband could not have health insurance? or what if neither one of you could make that critical decision for the other, because the other was clinically "brain dead"? we are not asking for "special rights" we are asking for the same rights as americans. most all of us work, pay bills, taxes, stress about money, bleed red...so seriously think about it, how hard would you fight for these rights if you were denied them?

Of course I would fight hard for equal rights. I feel that as it is now I should fight harder for them. Of course I am probably not the kind of person this discussion is aimed to address considering I am all for equal rights for every person and still cannot wrap my mind around WHY this has not happened yet.
