Do you believe...

This is sort of a multi-dimensional discussion...
First of all, I want to know, do you believe humans are more important than (other) animals? Why or why not?
Secondly, I was having a conversation with my mother about this yesterday... Assisted suicide is illegal in the United States, even though the suffering person WANTS to die, but when we have a pet who is suffering we many times end up putting him/her down. This is considered humane, but assisted suicide is not? How do you feel about this?
Lastly, why do you think most people do not give a second thought to killing animals for food when they stress about the lives of other animals? Is it just the fact that they become close to "pets" but don't have to think about the animals they eat? If you eat meat, do you ever think about the animals that died for it? Does it concern you? Are you indifferent?

Many here are going to hate me for this. but what i feel is that everything has been in balance.we are no more special than any other species. in fact a fellow has commented above that loving animals means not eating them.i ask most of us are in for green peace. would you stop eating rice or wheat.there many would answer that they are meant to be eaten. who decided that? we did!
i eat non - veg. but i care for animals.quite an antithesis, but its true.i eat chicken so am i not allowed to love a dog?
then some might say that we are eradicating the species by killing them and eating them....well check out the number of green patches left on earth and better fast find an alternative to the rice you eat.or loaf you love.
food chain is supposed to work like that.but its not eating animals that is causing the harm.it is the mindless population explosion that has caused this array of problems.
its just not the animals.its the plants too that are facing a big threat...HUMANS

Of course if you care about your dog, you care about your dog. It becomes somewhat hypocritical when you say you care about animals, but eat a chicken. Do you care about that chicken that you ate? Do you know how that chicken was treated? Do you care? Do you even think about it? If your dog was treated the same way as that chicken, would it bother you?

I believe all life is equal, and we as humans the so called 'superior' race should be treating animals far better than we do. I am vegetarian and don't see the need for us to eat meet when there are so many other nutritious and tasty things around to eat. I know it will seem odd, but as much as I value an animals life I do not believe in keeping them as pets either. They should be able to live in their natural environment without us interfering.

Why vegetarian and not vegan? Just curious... do you drink milk, etc? I agree about the pet thing, except I think that the animals that are in shelters should be adopted. I wish that one day there were no pets...

This annoys me. People will say "oh I love animals so much,I'm an animal lover." then they'll go and chow down on their steak. It's the way we've been brainwashed to believe that cows and pigs are food and dogs and cats are animals. That comment is very generalised but I believe it's true.
It's almost like the government has tried to seperate food from animals. People are brainwashed and half the young people out there don't even put two and two together and realise that bacon comes from pigs, beef comes from cows etc.
As for euthanasia in humans, I'm all for it. There's no reason to outlaw it.

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. "Cuddlytarians" annoy me sooo badly. It seems that whenever I point out the inconsistency of saying "I love animals!" and then eating meat, they get very defensive and I am then seen as a weirdo vegan freak... oh okay riiight. I'm a freak for ACTUALLY living what I believe.

this is really interesting...
i believe God created human to be dominant to animals, ofcors not to abuse, but to take care of them.
animals are important for us human, becos most of the animals save us from hunger, and yeah sumtimes i think of the lives of the animal i eat...but eating them is also keeping the balance of the ecosystem, just like the wild at the amazon.,
about the mercy killing...i never agree of it...coz think its like your cutting already the chances or loosing hope already.,i mean if we love sum1, relatives or pets...dont you wish for miracle?...

I do not see how eating animals that are raised specifically to be killed is keeping the balance of the ecosystem....
