Using internet in Office

Hi dear to me, if ur job needs to stay online, then chatting with friends is OK, as long as ur not effecting ur duties and responsibilities. If u r bang on target and giving work first priorty then its OK Take care

Hi Mayka you know very well that I am a house wife.I use internet for chatting ,writing mails,surfing and mylotting....No I do not feel guilty when I use the net since I am working from home ,but very often our telephone bill runs up to a large amount,and this really makes me guilty.....sigh.....

i also use internet at office. i am software professional. we have 24 hours internet access. no i do not feel guilty. i do mylot when i have time.

There are a lot of times when my department is caught up and I don't have to worry about checking up on them or I don't have any meetings to attend I always get on the internet. Usualy I come here or will visit other chat sites.

Hi mayka, I am also doing the same job in my office. Internet is available for me the whole day. But most probably I am busy with work and by getting leisure time I try to post responses in mylot and sometimes I am chatting with my friends also. In my office there is no restriction for using internet for personal use so I have the liberty to use the same for personal purpose. I never feel guilty because it is allowed in office then why the need of guilty. If there is restriction and we are doing the job by hiding the authority then we should feel guilty and otherwise don’t.

I have the same job as yours but I only deal with phone calls. I don't get guilty at all because I think this is how our account pay us since it has a lot of shortcomings with benefits and it has too much demands to us. This is how I get even and make extra income. so what if I'm using internet in the office.

I don't think it is good to use office hours for chatting and other personal things. May be if you are free, you can do it. Otherwise it is better to avoid that as it causes unnecessary problems. You will not be able to concentrate in your work. You will be surely diverted when you are doing personal online stuffs during office hours.So this may sometimes get you a bad name in the office. So it is better to take care of all these things.

I do not remain on-line for the entire day. I get to work on the net for few hours only. I prefer discharging my duties first then I go for mylot. I do not feel guilty about using office net.

my position here is a technical coordinator of telephone line and internet trouble restoration. Very busy at 8 to 9:30am for repair follow up and updates. After that, i wait for calls from my technical group working at field. Sometimes assist subscriber in trouble shooting internet connection over the phone. And then wait for afternoon to get report ticket from my officemates for dispatch the next day. At the time i receive no calls, very boring. Especially most of the time, I the only one left inside office. Others working outside. The company am working no internet provision for that time yet. What i did during those hours is that i always brought with me Crochet materials and do the stitching. I got the idea from my office friend. She does stitching while attending calls and also she has no idle time. She is a call center agent of this company am working now. Subscriber with internet and telephone trouble complaints she the one logged. 9 months later, the company provided us internet connection and i was so happy then. And my friend introduced the "mylot" to me to spend my spare time on writing. That i may gain points also out of it. I enjoyed using it now. Of course some personal work you cannot avoid doing and it takes discipline also that you will not leave your task undone. Have a nice day!

I teach in the university and so practically, our office is the faculty room of our department. There are four computers in the office. One is being used by our dean in her office. The other is used by the office secretary and the other two can be used by the members of the faculty. There are more than twenty of us. That gives a ratio of about 10:1. I really do not use the computer in the office as I have my own laptop which I bring everyday except in extreme cases.

i hardly find time in my home to my lot , so i use my office internet for mylotting most of the time and i really feel very very guilty on doing this , i am really trying to not mylot in my office , but nowadays i really reduced doing that , i am replying to you from my office right now , LOL

Yes,am using internet in office for working and for my personal live. As long as i can finis my work in the right time i think that is not problem at all. Use internet in office more good is free. so am no need going to internet cafe and paying too.

We are told we may only use internet for private things in "exceptional cases" and some websites are barred. Everything we do on internet is logged. Still I check my web email many times a day, I can not stop myself from doing it because I sit at the computer all day. I also have a friend who likes to email me many times during the day to my work email. When I am bored I like it, but usually I am very busy, and the emails are making me lose my concentration.

If your job is not related to internet, it's actually excitement of accessing internet in your free time and if your job itself is based on computers then it may not be that exciting as it can be and accessing internet during office hours also is not wrong unless and until your office work is not effected

While writting my reply to your post my friend , I am still at the office working on Annual Reports for Calendar Year 2008! :) Count me in, I am using the internet in the office,I am just lucky though. :)

I don't really feel guilty about it. I do it daily. I use the internet in the office and do some other stuffs like mylotting, checking some sites, chatting, etc. It's so good since it's all free of charge. I am working and enjoying at the same time. How cool is that.

I use Internet only in my office. I don't use internet in home because it is disconnected and my office work is also done by Computer so my most of time goes to before computer.
