Exams, exams, exams

In England at the moment, it's exam season. SATs, GCSEs, AS Levels, A Levels, university exams...from the age of 7 children can expect to carry out formal assessments pretty much every year until they are legally allowed to leave school at 16. So, my question is do you think that there are too many exams and assessments for children? When I was at primary school, my year group was the first to take SATs aged 7. I can't say they ever struck me as being an intense time or anything that made me stressed. These days though, the media seems to be reporting that children are far too stressed and actually making themselves ill because of exams. Do you think this is the fault of the parents? Or the teachers trying to achieve the best results they can so as to prove that they are a good teacher?

I think exams help the students improve in their studies. It can also add more knowledge to students. It is also the basis for the school to know whether the student is already ready for going into the real world. So, for me exams are important in our studies

Hmmm...I think it's depend on the culture and condition itself. The super competition which happen in the world make us must to boost and build every potential that we have so we can became a competitive person between people around the world. If we didn't prepare the child early time it might be make them not ready to facing the competition. The test still neeeded but the way (technically) of the test must be repaired to make the child not stress and if it could it must be attractive and not bore.

There are many students and only some of them will be successful in life. The education system must eliminate the weak students. So I think the exams are necessary. I don't know how it is in England but in my country (Turkey) The primary school children (7-15 years old) takes tens of exams in a year but they aren't so important. I don't think that they cause stress. But before students start high school (15-18 years old) they take an exam that all of the student in Turkey join. The stress begins there :) But I think the year 15 isn't so small to be stressed. Otherwise how can children learn the difficulty of bussiness life?
