Recently i came across a discussion here where the person says It jobs are bad,. there is no future for it. if it falls, there will be no way. also he thinks anybody can join IT. a farmer can just quit farming and join It or anybody? He thinks It pays well but people has to work hard. I think in all if you work hard you are paid well. Do you also think that IT is so worthless?

I was in IT earlier...so I can't complain. There are plus and minuses...and the big plus is money...and the biggest minus was the wierd timings for me...especially when I started my family. But my husband also thinks that anyone can get into IT and it doesn't need brains to get in.

I didn't say that did I? If I say that it means that I don't have any brains either! I was in IT, right? I was working for a company in Kuwait (I don't think you would have heard of it...it's called 4C) Are you with Infosys?

i dont think IT jobs are not that bad as well as worthless. a lot of companies offer a very high compensation package on IT jobs. it's true that anyone can join IT but not all can be that good in all computer aspects like systems analysis, software developments, networking and other brain twisting IT tasks that need to be done systematically and professionally.

I don't think that anybody can join IT.IT is a career that need knowledge.a farmer can't quit farming and join it . because he doesn't have the knowledge to program a good code.yes ,to be a programmer is really a hard work.you have to work until the deep of night to complet your code,if you want to program a good program.A farmer may be just a layman in the IT career. If he want to be excellent and worn big money,he must try his best to acquire the required technology and improve his technology day by day, because the IT is developing fast in the information era .If he can do all this things,he will be paid well.

No we cannot outrightly say that IT jobs are bad or lack security or consistency. Every job, has its own pro's and Cons.. Subha ji, always there are good elements and bad elements in every work place, and so it is, in the job we under take. If we could cope with it, we may survive otherwise it will be a tedious time for us.

no.. i dont think that... i think people working with IT are 'talented' group of people.. especially the software engineers... they write, create programs that help the other computer users to have better programs to work with.. IT is very 'broad', dont you think.. there are people who specializes in softwares, and those who design webs.. like everything else... you can learn the skills.. but it's not for everyone... a farmer (or anyone) may learn to use the computer (do the spreadsheet, prepare documents)... or learn to utilise the internet.. but may not necessarily know how to write or maintain a 'programe' etc... so.. no i dont think IT is something 'easy'.. and as.. we continue to progress.. the use of IT will become even greater - not worthless...

dear subha12 The point which you have raised in your discussion is really praise worthy. In think IT job has bright future at least in India. You will agree that it is the era of IT profession. Now-a-days parents are keen to admit their kids to opt for IT profession due to handsome salary. But it is true that there is no job security as most of the IT firms are owned by MNC not by the govt. Presently the demand is for IT job. I do not think it is worthless. pkc3000

I dont think IT has no future. I am a trainee in IT field(Networking). For us the job is not so hard.Only the problem is we have some responsibility. In the case of software engineers and developers,I think their job is hard. But the companies will pay enough for their hard work. Thanks

I'm going to say being an IT person there's pros and cons to it. If everyone for some reason suddenly stopped using computers at home at work everywhere I'd be totally out a job. BUT as long as people use them and dont know a ton about them theres those of us that have specialized and can help. Its no different than saying TV repair people are going to flop...sure if we couldnt use tvs anymore they would. I honestly wouldnt say just anyone can be a IT...they have to have the interest and atleast some knowledge. or Drive to learn.

Interesting premise. I think it would depend today on many different things including what part of IT a person specialized in, where in the world you are, how up-to-date your skills are, and finally how committed to your career path you are. There are many jobs in IT and most don't understand all the different roles that a person can take or the directions a career in IT can go. Like any other career IT has its Top and its Bottom. Pay scales vary depending upon market and speciality. The cost of remaining current frequently is on the individual and not their employer. Just for a sampling of different IT careers here is a list: ERP Functional Consultant (SAP, Oracle are the two primary) starting salaries $65K USD. Experts in their field with 7+ years of experience and key skills in 'hot' products or industry solutions can earn as much as $300K USD annually as independent consultants. ERP Technical (SAP, Oracle) Starting salaries for developers around $45K USD. Experts can earn as much as $200K USD annually as independend consultants. Solution Architects (SA) primarily found in government or ERP space these roles are highly skilled with backgrounds in both technical and application components of landscapes. They have usually at least 10 years in the IT world with experience across a broad array of processes. Typical salaries private sector $150K USD Network Architects design network solutions for a range of organizations from small to global. They are responsible for the communication and security of same. A senior architect can earn as much as $95K USD Security Architects design security solutions for organizations frequently across multiple applications and even at times across multiple landscapes in the case of global organizations. The trend toward single sign-on for ease of use has made their jobs even more challenging. Really talented Security Architects can earn as much as $95K USD. These are just some of the interesting positions that are available today in Information Technology. With new technology comes new challenges and new positions to meet those. Yes people work hard, often long hours and weekends and holidays. In honesty most IT positions will never be the glamor positions that some other career paths might offer. But for those willing to work and learn IT remains a challenging career path with much to offer.

I am working as programmer in IT. I also work freelance as my part time job. As far as i know, IT still consider good pay as long as u have the experience that is required. Juz always keep updating ur self with anything regarding to technologies. If u r left behind, then you might find it hard to look for a better job.

As my mother told me when I was young, computers are the wave of the future. They still are. Everything about our technocratic society bespeaks that this is so. There is no gainsaying computing technology. As for anyone being able to get into IT that is patently UNTRUE! If as this mistaken person says anyone can get into the IT field then everyone WOULD be in the IT field. Anyone with an interest in spending a few years learning about IT in college and eating, living, sleeping, and learning computers. Applications, software, security,HTML, Javascript, Critical Thinking, Algorythms, Database Management, etc. I know exactly how hard it is to actually get into the IT field because I am currently enrolled in college online working on my degree in Information Technology. This person whom you are referring to obviously doesn't know what they are talking about!

I work in the IT industry so I cannot say IT is worthless. I can only say that if given another choice to choose a career, I would not choose to be in IT. In fact, I am trying to get out of IT but it just seems impossible. I would think anyone in any industry will say never to get into that industry. It just seems to common. LOL.

In fact I like IT job. It pays well and the IT is so important in many fields. So the future shall be bright. But every job has its own disadvantages, too. IT people often suffer heavy pressure and overtime work. And when they are in a specific age, it seems they can't compete to the younger IT people. As this field everything develops so fast. I love China

I dont think IT jobs are so bad. Every job is bad if you don't have passion or enjoying it. I works in IT fields so i know exactly what the problems. I recently resign from my job because the company is not appreciate the workers. The problems was I dont get paid for overtime, must go out of the city often, work until late nights, and many more. I dont know how about you but I dont want to become a slave for that company so I dont have time to do things I want and to be happy with my family. About the future I think IT job has the most future because IT will always grows and developed so high skilled people is needed. Of course with high paying salary as well.

IT means Information Technology. But for me it is a broad term to discuss with. I would say that a database administrator whihc belongs to IT profession is in-demand. So I dont think IT is bad profession, I guess it is badly needed today. I was and electrical Engineer but when I am free I was continuously learning data base programming, web programming, etc. I prefer Visual Basic programming. Even in excel I was doing Visual Basic for Application, so I can make my projects faster and easy to accomplish. I assure you guys, IT pros are in demand right now, so dont believe that IT is bad. Thanks.
