When you curl up and go to sleep what do you think of?

As a long day draws to an end and you prepare your sleepy little head for bed what are some of the thoughts that race around your head?
Do you think of the rubbish that never got put out or the million other little things you didn't get done?
Or as you lay down to rest can you find comfort in thinking of all that you have done?
Generally by the time I trundle myself upstairs to bed I am so tired I fall straight to sleep. Tonight I will however spare a thought for my dear friends. They truly are inspirational and without them I could easily get lost.
What will you think of as you enter dream land?

I tell myself a bed time story that I make up as I go along. And then I usually dream about it. It's kinda cool and I've been doing it ever since I can remember! LOL
And in the morning I have the kinks of the story worked out and I can write it down.

LOL Lou - it comes from a lot of early years (when I was a kid) and never having enough books to read, and of course, tv wasn't in every household yet either! LOL I'm old!
Actually, I used to have terrible nightmares when I was young, and so one night I made up a story in my head that was happy, and I dreamed about it. No nightmares that night. It took some time and real dedication(!), but eventually it became a very healthy and happy habit to tell myself stories at night to go sleep with. As I grew older and my stories got more complex and my writing got more varied it became a real mind game to think things through for my stories and things before I went to bed and dreamed about them. The mind is a fascinating thing. It can think on many levels about many things all at the same time if we pay attention and it can be trained and retrained to do just about anything we want if we work at it. The best part is, it seems to WANT to! Like retraining a stroke victim to walk and talk and think again, or a brain trauma victim to think logically again. Amazing what we can do if we set our minds to it.
Lecture over! ROFL

Yes it is very important to be in a good frame of mind when you go to sleep. That is one reason why I am against letting babies cry themselves to sleep. While your are sleeping you body recreates and regenerates, you do not want it to manifest negative thoughts

how lovely a wedding to think of before sleep. I remember mine as if it were only yesterday. I am sure the day will be very magical (though there is so much to be done isn't there even if it is only small and simple, so many details to be covered)
I wish you and your beloved all the very best for this special day.

LouRhi, yes there are nights I lay down and I can not shut off my mind. I know I should be sleeping and yet all of the undone household chores, the work yet I have left on my desk, family issues all run through my head. Since I was a little girl, I would make up elaborate stories and fantasies to sooth my self. Sometimes I revert back there. Putting myself anywhere other than my own head.

Yes my childhood nights were also spent creating events and friendships in my mind. Somehow now I have managed to shut off all the things that should have been done so I can sleep. I guess I can rest easy knowing they will all still be there when I wake up!

I just try and think of what good day I had and all that I did. I will think about things that I would love to do like travel to other places and what it would be like when I got there. I believe thinking happy thought befor you go to sleep will not only make you feel good but give you a better nights sleep to as well.
