Zack Speaks...

So, I found an interview that Zack (Bone, Eric Millegan) did for TVguide.com and he said that it wasn't his decision to leave the show. He would have liked to stay but, TPTB wanted something to shake things up and make a great finale. But, the good news is that, while he is no longer a series regular, he will be back on the show now and again. He said he couldn't say how or why but he did say that some of the ex-co-workers will be visiting him. So, we will see Zack again...just not as a part of the Jeffersonian.
So, that sucks! Not only did they get rid of a beloved character but, they had no real reason for it other than the fact that they wanted to slap us all in the face with a shocking finale! Well done jerk wads!
How about you? Does knowing that it wasn't Eric Millegan's choice to leave Bones tick you off more than if he had chosen to leave the show? I was already mad that they wrote him out but, knowing he would have happily stayed on the show, makes me angrier.

What a little tv character fanatic you are! LOL This is good news! I knew they couldn't get rid of him completely.
And you can bet that fan mail will have him reinstated at the Jeffersonian before the end of next season! LOL

LOL! I loved that Bones decked Booth when she realized he was alive! LOL!
I hope Zack gets reinstated but, her is a serial killer now. How does one come back from that?
I never thought that my being pathetic could help someone else out! LOL! Yay!

As much as I liked Zack I don't see a way to have him reinstate the character they practically killed him off. They made him a murderer. He stabbed someone through the heart! I would not mind seeing him as the other characters visit him and come to terms with what happened, but tampering with evidence, desecrating bodies( by stealing the teeth from the limbo storage area) how could he possibly be reinstated? I would be very disappointed in the show if they did that.

But Zack was only an apprentice and had only been so for a few months - AND, he only killed ONE person, so he's not a serial killer - and he didn't eat of the flesh either. He was in it for the 'philosophy' not the killing, so yeah, they can 'rehabilitate' him, especially if he is going to be 'consulted' on some shows, and before you know it Bones herself will have made things alright again - you wait and see! lol

I just don't get that decision. He was one of my favorites on the cast and I doubt they'll be able to replace him.

Well, it was a surprising episode, and like people said. No one really saw that one coming. Although he was a regular, last season that gave the idea of dropping him and I wasn't that devastated. Its just this time, he committed a crime which make it all shocking. As of seeing him again. I can see prison visits and whatnot by everyone. It was sad though.
As for the actor. I've only really seen him in one other thing. I think it would be more upsetting though if someone like David (Booth) left the show. The writers probably had to make a hard decision. His character was a little less then side. He didn't take the spotlight, it was just in a duo where you normally saw him.

It still stings me to think about him no longer being a contract character. I am happy to have read, through his mouth and the mouth of his bosses, that he will be back in guest spots. I can say that it would have even more upsetting if they had killed him off the show. So, I am glad that he will be back as a guest on the show! But, it still upsets me that they got rid of him when they could have gotten rid of Cam instead! She wasn't a member of the original cast. Zack has been on since day one! I would gladly trade Cam to have Zack back!

It's so good to see someone else upset that Zack was cut from the show. Like you, I would have preferred to see Cam or Sweets replaced instead of Zack. By now you probably saw Zack in the "guest" spot he mentioned. Don't want to ruin it for you in case you haven't, but I really was surprised by Zack's confession at the end of it. All I could sputter after that was "What the heck! You big dummy!" Sometimes the way his mind works is as hard to fathom as Bones. Wonder if Sweets can figure out a way to let that "secret" out of the bag some time soon.
You also mentioned Jerico. I was watching season one and two at the same time for a while and was VERY disappointed that they just stopped running them entirely before we could find out what happened with the bomb. I hate it when stations do that after I get really into the show.

Yeah, it really is hard to understand why tptb would cut the good shows and why they would keep the ones that they do. There are still several shows set to record on my dvr, just in case they come back unexpectedly, Jerico among them, but sometimes it seems like forever before the new seasons start.

I did see his guest appearance. He is supposed to be guesting a couple more times. I really am hoping that Sweets can figure out how to reveal what Zack told him. I kind of hope that the fan reaction to his exit will give The Powers That Be the push to bring him back and give us what we all really want. I don't really think many people were very happy about Zack getting kicked off the show.
It really was crap that Jericho got canceled too. In fact, there were a few shows that got the boot last year that sort of upset me to see them go. Another was Moonlight. I don't get it. They keep a show like Brothers and Sisters on the air, or like Kath and Kim. Sorry if you like either or both of those shows...I don't mean to offend. But, they get rid of shows like Jericho and Moonlight. WTF? LOL!

though i think that it sucks that he was written off the show, i think that all shows need change. and i guess if the writers felt the need to get rid of a character, he was the most "disposible" with no strong connections to other characters.

I respectfully disagree. I understand that the writers wanted to make a bold statement and keep us on our toes. The head writer even said that they realize that there is comedy in the show but, they felt like we were starting to feel too comfortable and they wanted to jar us and wake us up a bit. I disagree. I have never felt comfortable. I am always jarred when I watch the show. It thrills me and leaves me wanting to talk to people about it and, they didn't have to remove one of my favorite characters to achieve that.
As for Zack being the most "disposable"...no way! He did have strong connections to the other characters. He was almost like Brennan's son in the way she sort of felt a little protective and maternal towards him. He was an enigma to Cam and Booth, a best friend to Hodge, and a little brother to Angela. I feel he has strong connections with all of the other characters and it really came through in the last few minutes of the episode as they put together the box of all his favorite things and each of them was something that one of the other characters gave him. Not only did his character connect with all of the other characters but he managed to grip the audience and his fans so well that they have dubbed the response to his exit the "Zack-lash".
This will never sit well with me.
