I always like my food to be vegan; it's good for the environment, our fellow beings and own health! I also like it to be imaginative and interesting and pleasing to the eye... Even if it's only a salad, there are always ways to make it a bit different!
Tonight had celery, radishes, pumpkin seeds, 2/3rd of a corn cob, those little red Chinese seeds full of nutrients (?), a little finely chopped garlic and ginger, some salad oil full of all the omegas, 3,6 and 9 I think, a 125gram pot of yofu with peach tipped over the salad - think that was it!!! Yummy... Quite often drink fruit smoothies, Barleycup, fruit and herbal teas. Like to snack on one of Green and Black's many vegan chocolates... Ginger; dark, bitter-sweet cherry...
Best restaurant I've ever been to is Pogo Cafe, Hackney, London - their vegan cheesecake is to die for!
What are your favourite vegan foods and drinks, places to eat?

Hello fellow vegans! Well, this is a quiet little spot tucked away in the corner of Mylot isnt it!!! I only just discovered there was a Vegan interest!
Luckily for me there are quiet a few vegan restaurants around where I live, which is the Gold Coast, Australia. Just over the border an hour south of me is an area which has the largest population of alternative people in the country, so there are loads of places down there too!
I eat a mainly Raw Vegan diet, which consists of superfood and green smoothies, salads and fruits, raw granola, chia seed porridge, etc! My favourite smoothie at the moment is one with Sun Warrior protien powder, frozen blueberries and raspberries, some dates, almond milk and between 3 and 6 bananas depending on their size!

Thanks for your response, RawBill! You will have to add yourself to the Vegan Food list, as at present I only seem to be the first one out of two!!! The Gold Coast sounds an excellent place to be. Without doing some on the spot research, I believe this is on your east coast, with plenty of permaculturists and new agers to be found too! I've been vegan ten years now, having dabbled with raw foodism at the beginning of my turn to vegan. Your climate probably makes it much easier!

Yes, I am on the East Coast and there are loads of permaculturists in this area, in fact the worlds leaders are here! This is something that I want to look into more, I have some friends who hold workshops, but I have only been to one so far!
Yes the climate is ideal in this area for eating raw foods as it is warm for most of the year and the salads and fruit are very refreshing!
I did add the interest and on my screen I am 3rd out of 4!

Thanks for getting back, will be going on a Permaculture retreat soon for a fortnight with Buddhafield - really switched on Buddhists! www.buddhafield.com Really looking forward to delving into this in a practical way.

I've been to several vegan restaurants when I went to Hollywood before. They had some really good food!
There is also a small vegan restaurant out here which is pretty good. But most of the time I just end up cooking for myself or going someplace and ordering something vegan.
I think being vegan is great. I've found that a lot of people in my running group eat a lot of vegan food, even if they aren't vegan. It's just healthier.

I am really pleased that I have got a vegan diet and think that it is great for the animals as well as my own health. My favorite food is a simple salad that has cucumber, lettuce, carrots and a few nuts. I like to drink smoothies, grapefruit juice and strawberry soya drink. I enjoy eating fruit, especially passion fruit with banana, grapefruit, strawberries and raspberries. Every time that I buy food I check its ingredients to make sure that is it is vegan or it is still vegan. This is very important because recipes do change sometimes. My favorite place to eat out is Cafe Maitreya, a restaurant for vegetarians and vegans. I also quite like to eat at Cafe Mono, a cafe that only does vegan food. Both of these establishments are in Bristol in South West England. I am very keen on traveling and when I travel I try to take snacks like rice cakes, fruit jam, dried fruit, coconut bars and nuts.

There are no vegan, or even vegetarian, restaurants around me ... Of course I can get vegan meals when I go out, but they are usually bland and boring because everything is centered around MEAT and I have to ask for it without... I cannot wait until the day when I can go out to vegan restaurants and have tons of choices, until then I just stick with what I can cook for myself.

Sorry to hear that. Living in the west country of England we have a fair few veggy restaurants about. Glastonbury is not so far away, which has more veg than non-veg restaurants! Exeter has a brilliant veggy restaurant called Herbies and there is a new vegan (unheard of for the West Country!) restaurant in Barnstaple, North Devon called The Owl!
Would be interested to hear what kind of vegan meal you might prepare for yourself.

Maybe I need to move to England! I am not a very good cook, so I make really simple things like stir-fry, chili, veggie and black bean burgers, and I just eat a ton of fruit!

Yes, I was looking up a map of the States to see where Michegan was, and I would guess that even to get to New York is a fair hop, as your country is so vast. I once did a month journey from NY to LA with Trek America, transversing the northerly states and bits of bordering Canada. I remember one day in one of the north-east states, we spent about 7 hours on the freeway, through vast expanses of countryside with hardly any buildings. If you ever come to England, conversely you will be surprised how "packed in" everything is!
Wandering off track there! Yes it seems the best places for us vegans in the States are more on your west or east coasts than in the interior. Suppose the best state is probably going to be Calfornia - there is even a fair size raw food community there too!
As for preparing food at home, I guess that there may not be such a good choice of fresh veg and other vegan foods in your supermarkets, though fruit is probably more available, though that could be dependant again on where exactly in the States...
