My 20 year old brother is addicted

To the internet. From the time he wakes up till the time he goes to bed he is consumed on the computer. The only time he moves away from the computer is to get something to eat or drink or to use the bathroom. He's missing out on the real world and it drives me crazy. Hes into them online multi player games and using the microphone to talk. It's like these people are the only people he has contact with. He's not even attempting to find a job. I tell my mom all the time that she needs to put a fire under his butt and get him away from that computer, but when you try to get him away he gets a chip on his shoulder. Anyone know any other people like this? Any suggestions on how to get away from the computer and out into the real world? It's like this little box is consuming his whole life

I know the feeling I am the same way when I come home from work im usally on this all day. There is a lot to do on the internet. That is why its so addicting for a lot of people. I think girls are the same way but they chat with there friends I know my sister when she was in highschool use to chat all day with her friends. But the internet is just an addicting place.

At least you have a job though, he is not even attempting to look for work. He just sits on the computer all day. If he at least had a job or was going to school than I would not be on his back so bad about the time he spends on the computer

It sounds like me too. Once i got up from the bed, i go to work. I switch on my PC from 9 - 6pm then i home. After i have my dinner n some rest, i will turn on my laptop to continue my freelance work. Erm.... is tat wrong to turn stick with Internet? I am not sure...
But for me Internet is juz a way for me to earn money.

If you think your brother needs to be stopped in using the computer, why don't you tell your mom to put away the pc from him.he really should learn the proper use of the computer..

My wife says that I am addicted to the computer and I think that I am. I am always online doing different things and trying to earn money on here. I have not found anything that really will help me earn a good steady income. I also like to check my email 3 or 4 times a day. It all started when I got a webtv. That was probably 10 years ago. I have been addicted since then. My wife thinks I should go to a computer help center to help me with my addiction.
