Broadband cards

I'm going on a trip and want to take my laptop with me. Where I will be staying there is no internet connection. I would like to know if there is a laptop broadband card that is available for use in this area, or under these circumstances.
I've been told that AT&T has a card, but I don't know much of anything about it. Has anyone had any kind of experience with this? Any suggestions?
Please help me? Let me know how I can go about doing this. Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way.
Happy posting..

Have you thought about wireless broadband? I'm thinking of getting it, which then means, I can take my laptop anywhere I want, and still have internet connection, because it bounces of satelites. It would also allow my partner to still use the internet at home too!

Hi new,
I went through the phone company and got their tethering package that allows me to have internet access for my laptop while I am away from home, and still have the home service for others to use. This worked real well.
It did mean I had to change the overall package for my cell phone, but it was worth it.

The one we are looking into has the laptop and home computers using the one ip address, just available in different locations. The price is rather more than I like though, at $80 per month Australian.

I don't have any experience with this.
But from the little I know...
If you have broadband ADSL... which require a phone line to connect... it won't work... as you need to register the phone line you are using with your service provider... and that cost money.
If you have wireless ADSL... that might work... as long as there is a wireless service where you are.
The beaut thing about the old fashion dial up was that you could go anywhere and plug your modem in any phone line at zero cost.
If you are going there for less than a month... you might consider opening a dial up account for a month. Some service offer the first month free as a trial period... so it cost you nothing. I did that in the past.

Aussie,
I got a Blackberry Curve phone and used it as my modem for my laptop. That worked for a couple of days. When I got back I had the phone company fix it again. This combo works nicely even though it is spendy. Thanks for the suggestions you gave.
