Hello there... i am into bargain shopping. sometimes, i wonder if i am really shopping wisely and saving money in the end. there are times when the special offer is really tempting that i end up buying in bulk, however, it's beyond my current need and some goes to waste....LOL...
how about you? any similar experiences? does hunting for bargains can really save money in the end?

I have made mistakes in the past by buying bargains for Christmas presents very early in the year, and a couple of times the people concerned have either gone out and bought one of the same before Christmas or some ther reason which makes my bargains not such a good thing...

This is what I would be afraid of. Then what do you do with the gift? I guess if you ahve a large family and lots of friends it probably wouldn't go to waste.

I often tend to bulk buy or take advantage of the three for two offers as a way of saving money on my shopping. However they are not always the bargains they seem as I have ended up having to throw away food that we simply couldn't manage to eat but was a bargain offer. Last week I bought some pasta meals on a three for two offer but my partner and I got so sick of eating pasta that we had to get rid of the rest as it was going off.

Bargain shopping and impulse buying could prove to be a lethal combination. I should know, my family's sort of afflicted with it. bargain shopping could be really fun and exciting, since you find really good items for a low price, but if you can't practice self-control, it could all go awry. We've filled up our garage with items we've bought and it's all collecting dust now. Really bad. We plan to sell them all at a garage sale...hopefully there'll be others like us who'll take the bait.

i always shop for a bargain, with clothes, especially, some of the better stores have racks of clothes that they are selling for a couple dollars to make room for the new fashions, and stores like Macy's at the mall here have a floor where they have mark downs on items like comforters, sheets, cookware, what do i care if it is last seasons style, are you going to know, I'm not going to tell you,as for bulk, my dog loves pup o roni, as a treat, at the store it is $3.99 a package, at Big Lots it is $1.50 bought 5 or 6 packages so that he would not run out, know what he no longer likes pup o roni, so what do i do with it, bulk is ok if you buying food that you can freeze, or can goods, some of us is on a fixed income and we need to shop as carefully as we can so that our money last the longest. There is nothing wrong with bargain hunting and I think it is fun to go our and find a good bargain, it makes my day, I've saved a buck for something else.

Hi there shiloh!
I always do bargain shopping. Whenever I see a good deal but don't have a need for it, I use it for gifts in the future especially on Christmas so when Christmas comes, I don't have to join the Christmas shopping rush aside from having a gift ready when I am invited to a party or some other occasion.

I'm a bargain shopper like you, shiloh. And from my past experiences, it was like a trial and error thing. There were times that I was buying items that were not really needed and I end up storing them for hopefully, future use. But now, I'm more careful in doing my bargain shopping. I have a weakness for educational toys that are on sale but still in good condition. Now, this is my toughest challenge. I'm torn apart by the idea that I'll be missing out on the opportunity of a good buy but I'm not really sure if my son will like it.
In my past bargain huntings, it did save me money. Because I only buy the items that I do need. And sometimes while at it, I ask myself two questions. Do I need this or do I just want it?

I've always thought that a deal is only a good deal if it's for something you actually want, and need, and you can use it. I don't get tempted to buy something just because it's on sale, otherwise I think I am just wasting my money needlessly. With food products, I only buy stuff in bulk if I know I can store it, freeze it, or otherwise have the room to keep it and use it before it goes bad. This one grocery store out here sometimes offers chicken, in bulk, for a really really good price. I buy a couple of bulk packages, saving at least $1.00 or so a pound, and then when I get home, I repackage it and put it into the freezer. I'm lucky though, I have a very large chest type freezer and I can take advantage of food sales, buy in bulk, and store it safely.
