Seveal days ago,a terrible earthquake happened in my hometown
which already killed 40075 persons.I am so sad for those people and doing my best to help them. It's reported that animals such like dogs, cats, etc, should be killed after the earthquake in case of horrible epidemics.I feel so sorry for those animals but what else can we do?
What's you opinion?

To the best of my knowledge, there are very few diseases which can be passed from animals to humans. Fleas might be a problem as they do carry rabies, but if caught in time even that is treatable.
I just can't understand why the only answer is to kill all these animals.

Why do you need to kill the cats and dogs surely they can be caught and put into kennels or is the area to poor to do this.
I can't see how there would be an epidemic though as the only problem I can think of is that there would be strays everywhere. This would cause some problems but killing them is a bit too much.

I can't understand why they would do this unless the places that they would keep them was destroyed also, or if a lot of the dogs and other animals were injured to the point that they couldn't treat them.
Or due to so many owners were killed and no family has a place to put them.
This is SO SO sad
It also makes me angery that more can't be done to help these poor little creatures.
I wish I could afford to fly them to the States and find good homes for them here, but I am so poor that an ant has more than I do.
