My mood is affected by the type of customer service I receive....I am so amazed at how many establishments that the employee acts as if you are interrupting THEM when you approach them for service or a purchase. I find that alot of these "employees' are rude and discourteous....How important is good customer service to you???

I agree with you, that and how often have you gone in a store, need some assistance and couldn't find anyone to help you? In the past several years it seems that customer service has gone way down hill. I also can't stand being waited on by someone who acts like they hate their job, if they hate it, find another job.

Yeah I always see the "How may we help you" blue vest running off when I go into a certain store anytime a customer walks into their department....which is why half the time I don't bother to ask fro assistance.

As odd as this sounds no matter how rude a customer is the best defense is to still be courteous. And trust me I am biased when I say I hate stupid people, but when you serve the public sometimes you fall into a situation.
But I have noticed this as well...what you are saying more and more people who work in a public environment do not care if they treat a customer like crap. And to me it is a lack of self-respect. Because no matter how badly I may get treated by someone when I am an employee I remind myself I do not know what their day or life is like. And also I think about how many times I have had a problem and someone did not want to go above and beyond to help me (their customer) solve a problem.
As my favorite singer says "It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile" (STING). That one statement speaks for the true essence of humanity. Teach by example, and go above and beyond. Because your customer will always remember you. I know I remember every person that has helped me and I have stayed a true customer to them.
Plus, I like being a problem solver.

Yes, that really bothers me, too. It actually puts me in a really good mood when employees are really friendly with me, and then it can do the opposite when they are rude and impolite. It really bothers me when I go through the checkout line at the store and the cashier doesn't even say hello or thank you afterward. I always just figured that it was common courtesy to say those things, but it seems as if some will just scowl at the customer. I am always happy to get out of the store when I have a cashier like that! As long as the employees are polite, then that is good enough for me! :)

I know exactly what you mean! God forbid these poor frowny-faces get me on a bad day, when I'm already in a bad mood. I'll say something like, "I guess you guys don't want my money - you can't even be courteous," and leave my stuff there and walk right out. (Only if they're just rediculously rude.) Why can't people be nice anymore? Why do people always have to go around with their eyebrows hanging down to their knees?
What really gets me irate is over the phone. Ohhhh my God! I can start off polite, but if I feel like the rep on the other end isn't being poilte, or giving me the proper service, I start getting annoyed. Especially when they keep making me repeat myself!!! I hate that!!! If they are outright rude to me, my anger level will go from "0" to "B*TCH" in .02 seconds!
In fact, I just got off the phone with a Bank of America representative who was rude and acted like he'd rather be anywhere else then there at work, helping me (or lack thereof.) Anyway, I told him I'd take my business elsewhere. Like he cares; but Bank of America will when they start losing all their customers because of LACK of customer service.

I used to be a supervisor in a customer service related job. We had trainings and seminars for new employees and exams if they really understood what we taught them. So, if they would be rude and discourteous in the future, they can't say that they didn't know how to do their job. That's why, when I encounter a salesperson like that and she really is annoying, I take a good look at him/her, ask his name and then proceed to the management. There I would take my case and in a way, lecture the salesperson on how to do her job. I know what I'm talking about because I trained people. As for the manager, I'd say send the salesperson to lots of trainings if they don't wanna fire her.
Good Customer Service is very important in all establishments and somehow sales will shoot up if the people who works there are all nice. People will come back for more..

yeah it irritates me to no end when i get bad coustomer service. what ever mood they are in it shouldnt be taking it out on customers. if i go into a buisness i expect exceptional service from all its staff 100% of the time. if they cant do that then i dont trust them to be running a compitant business and wont shop, eat, or patron that buisness in anyway.

I think good customer service is very important as we
just might not come back to a store that has rude
and upleasant clerks. we do not owe rude clerks our
patronage at all.On the other hand clerks who are
helpful guarantee that customers will always come
back to their store.
