Absolutely not money from my viewpoint. Not house, food or water either. All the above metiioned items are good, but not that enough.
People suffered not only body but also soul during this disaster.
My sister's right now studying in Shaanxi province, bordering Sichuan province where Wenchuan, the epicenter locates. Far away from it, actually. The other day, all the people got a message from Shaan Xi Seismological Bureau to warn them that there're gonna be a big aftershocks between 19th and 20th May. This province has been throgh a big tremor on May 12th, when the big earthquake took place. So people get so afraid that lots of them sleep on the big open plaza without tents. They are scared, they don't know how to do except hiding in the open, they dare not sleep too fast. My sister logs on the website of Seismological Bureau all day long to see the updated information.
Shaanxi's not the worse-hit area, people get so panic, let alone those in Sichuan Province. God, they even lost their families. I've heard that a small child committed suicide after knowing all his families are dead.
Injures on heart need urgently to be healed by experts. Glad to see that our govt has sent people to save their souls, to rescue them from misery

I would imagine and I hope that it happens that the whole world will offer help in these areas, it is going to take a long time for these poor souls to heal, and yes they need a lot of help, I only hope they get as much as they need, this should bring the world together...

Thanks lilaclady, international rescue teams from different countries have come to the earthquake-hit area recently and have help save lives. It may take years for them to overcome the wound, but people all around our countries will back them, help them rebuild the houses and regain the happiness.
Enjoy life~~`

I think their heart's hurt is more serious after earthquake.
Their house had destroyed, their family had gone for ever. They must strong after lost all.
So,psychology is a important problem I think.
Pray our motherland will be better.

Yeah, that's why govt call on volunteers whose major is about psychology, i wish i studied this subject, in that case i can offer my help. Heartbroken to see the scene in the tv, but things will be getting better and better day by day throgh continuous help and effort. Measures have been put forward, our govt never ever stops rescuing.
Go China, we will create the miracle.
Enjoy life~~~

I know how hard it is to cope with the disaster your people had experienced. I feel the hardship and the truma it created to the victims there. I am just glad that your sister is okay and is able to communicate with you. It will take some time before everything will normalize there and your government should do everything to aid those victims as this will be forever be in their memory all their life. I am one of those that offer my condolences to those that became a victim of these tragic event.

Thanks, as you can see, Shaanxi is far away from the epicenter, so it's not that destructive, therefore my sister's all right, although there's still people die and people be hospitalized, but not much. I get saddened when hearing that she and her five other roommates slept on the square in front of school library without tents, but then i felt much better, at least she's safe and can enjoyed the next day's sunshine. We have to cherish and enjoy life, huh? It may take years to rebuild the houses, but our govt never stop trying their best. I've read from the newspaper that the central govet will set up a RMB 70b fund for reconstruction of the earthquake-striken areas and cut 5% from the central govt's spending this year for relief effort.
Enjoy life~~~

This is a very good topic. Let's talk about what they really need. Perhaps it's the care. I know it's not a material and it's hard to say what is care exactly. We have to care about those people who lost home and family in this disaster as this is a big attack for them. Help them to have a new life.

Hello, youless, yes, we have to keep an eye on them, some people say that May 12 should be the care-day for 7 years. Maybe it do has this necessity, they are now only live in tents or will live in makeshift shelters in the coming 3 and a half months. It's still far away to reconstruct their houses. But efforts will be kept making, i believe.

Cherishing their soul must be more important than the material aspects I think. It is a nightmare to the people and our country. But I do believe our government has the ability to conquer it in the end even though we are confronting so many enormous difficulties.
No one can escape a sudden disaster, and the prior things he should do is do their best to recover himself. what we should do now is to rebuild our home and cherish the soul,we are expecting a bright tomorrow with full confidence.
I love China!

Hello, asr999, thanks for sharing. I have the same feeling as you, Not only material but also care about heart should be given to those injured, they've been through so much. During this massive earthquake, i also saw lots of touching scenes fluxed among different kinds of people. Love is great and unbelievable, if we continue to present our true love and careness, disaster will pass, confidence will be rebuilt and houses can be reconstructed. Everything can start from the very new beginning
I love China and Chinese, Enjoy life~~
