I want to know what is a script? I am using Mozilla Firefox as my main browser and I observed that whenever my browser does not respond or hanged up, I receive a notice that says A script is running my computer, which prompted my computer/browser to stop working. And there is a choice whether to stop it or continue. What should I do to stop this script and make my browser work well.

Script is a programming code that specified your browser to do something.
For example, Java script, Visual Basic script.
Bad script may harm your computer.
If you use Firefox then try this add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

Scripts come in many forms as explained by others here.
If you are using Firefox then you can use the no-script button. and also try not allowing scripts to run in the first place (you find this in your internet settings)also note that sometimes you may get a warning that a script is running and may make things slow and it will ask you if you want to continue running it or not. Best to say not and start again because it can take a long time before everything unfreezes itself.
