who do you think should have won american idol?

Too bad I missed the final night too. Sweet thing is you have this discussion for me to read on. Nice to read what people say. Well as for me, I've watched the show early on and kept on missing it. I didn't really pay attention to Cook but Archuleta I did have noticed him since he is cute and really good looking and sweet faced guy. I really liked his song when he auditioned. I felt in love with him and the song hehehe. Good luck for the two Davids.

I was hoping David Archulets was going to win. At the same time David Cook is good also. I wish the best for them both, They both deserved to be the top 2 this year.

I am from Missouri but didn't really want David Cook to win although he is more mature and can handle a crowd and people in general better. David Archuletta, I believe, is more talented. So my choice would have been David Archuletta. It would have been a challenge for him to handle all the interviews and talk shows because he is so young and shy. Either way, both will have contracts and be popular. I wish them both much success.

they both deserve to win because they are the top two who survived all this months. but in my opinion cook is more versatile in singing than archuleta. archuleta needs more time to mature regarding singing. while cook is already earning for he is a member of a band before he got into idol. cook has no problem facing a lot of audiences for that is his work. i know archuleta will bloom in a much more good singer.

They are both good for me. They deserve to win the show but if I really have to think about it and look into the future I think Ill go with David Cook. The nice thing about him is that he can sing sweet music but he can rock hard. Whereas, David A. is a really really good singer and I think to wise for his age I had to imagine if Im in one of his concerts in the future. He can sing ballad and sweet songs well but he's a bit sketchy on the party theme and the rock upbeat music. I might be able to gush for 4-5 songs in his concert but if theres no variety and all he sings throughout the concert are ballads well, I think I might be able to sleep on the floor halfway through the concert. He still has to harness and discover his wild side so he can rock upbeat music. I do agree that David C. has a similar style to Chris Daughtry but there something different too. Well, anyways, like I said, they both deserve to win and I hope its a tie. Well, thats just wishful thinking.^_^

They are both very talented but I saw a few things that just didn't seem right, first of all I found it very strange how Simon apologized to Cook before the envelope was opened, this is out of character for Simon, made me feel like he only did this because he knew Cook was going to win. Another thing is that Archuleta's father (Daddy Dearest) got Nigel the shows producer angry for the way he was carrying on and I believe because of his father's actions this is what caused David A.'s to loose the AI competition just like he lost the "Star Search" competition. They had enough of him and probably decided that they don't want to have to deal with his father with everything involved with winning the competition. It really is a blessing in disguise because if David A. had won he is still 17 and his father would have his hands in his financial winnings and probably leave David broke. Now when David hits 18 at the end of the year (Dec. 28th) he can control his own life and hire someone to safely guide him and all his assets. This is just my opinion.

I actually thought Carly Smithson should have won it, but she was voted off back in April. I feel both David's were good and that David Cook was deserving of the title though.

well as many have said, both are deserving but only one can win. i actually like david a's type of songs, soulful ballads and sentimentals and all. but on a more neutral note, david cook won and i'm happy about it as his performances are what you could expect of a professional singer in my opinion. david a is also good but at times, just my opinion, i thought that though his voice is good, the performance was a little lacking for my taste. david cook is able to sing rock as well as soft songs. so that worked for me too as i feel that you are more of an idol if you give good performance, have good voice and can sing a range of different types of songs. but both did very well. in fact, the rerun is on right now over here.

Being from Utah, I desperately wanted David A. to win, even though I personally preferred David C.'s music. However, I think Simon was right, both of them are incredibly talented and have absolutely nothing to worry about - both will end up with recording contracts. I think if David Archuletta were to put out an album with music similar to Josh Groban he would do pretty well. And of course, David Cook would do an alternative rock album.

Well, as for me, I am content and happy for the result. I really think that David Cook really deserved to win the competition. Since in the beginning, he is my bet and favorite among them. I always anticipated his performances and really admired him for the talent that he have. I am really happy for the result and for me this season is the best season so far and having two contenders who were both deserve to be in the finals. It's really great. :D

Well David Cook really deserved it. He's really good. They're both good but he has something unique to offer in their batch. I'm sure gonna watch out for him.

I think America choose the right guy. Although the other David was talented and nice as well. Anyway I am sure he will succeed in music industry without any problem, regardless his lost in American Idol. Basically he is the winner as well, just like the judges confirmed. I think David Cook is more prepare, more mature to "rock the stage". His performances were very professionals, like he has already been a music star.
