I have just had a "senior moment". I carefully gathered up all the breakfast dishes and carefully carried them all out of the kitchen, up the stairs and into the shower! Perhaps I should put me in the dishwasher instead of the dishes. What are your senior moments?

I have many senior moments but I couldn't recall one, then today I had one of the strangest ever, I looked everywhere for a pair of black trousers so I could wash them, then I realised I was wearing them.

LOL. Oh Nanna. That's as bad as glasses on and looking for them, which is one of my tricks!

I remember my Mother looking very confused when she responded to a ring at the door to find the milkman standing there holding out one of our hot water bottles. What on earth was the milkman doing with our hot water bottle? Wanting to swap it for the empty milk bottles which Mum had packed away in the cupboard where the hot water bottle lived of course!

Whoops. LOL. Poor Mum. Still at least your milkman bothered to ring the bell. We have a milk delivery three days a week, largely because we don't want the doorstep delivery business to die. But we have never seen our milkman as he comes so late. However, our daughter is also quite nocturnal and quite often come home from parties etc at the same time as he comes delivering. My wife asked her what he looked like. She says "like Daddy", well I'm always telling her that her father was the milkman! and getting clouted for it too by her mother.

This was back in the days when you used to see a milkman of course. Today I'm afraid that they're a dying breed

Mine was a long time ago, nowhere close to being a senior. I put a freshly made pot of tea in the refrigerator - at least it was in the kitchen!

I can't say I have ever done anything as silly as that, but I have put my car keys in the fridge, or little things like that. Some days I am walking around the house looking for my glasses, and I have them on my face already. Silly things like that, but nothing like what you did. To carry them all upstairs, that is too funny. When did you notice, after you put them in the shower, or before.

Oh dear, thanks for making me laugh, I think it is the funniest thing I have read so far today!! What are you? I have done silly little things before like putting the washing up liquid in the fridge, and the milk in the freezer but I can honestly say that I have never done anything like that. I cannot believe that you actually got all the way to the shower before you realized though!!

I was doing what men never should. Trying to do two things at once and somehow they got confused. I did think that I might shower and then take the dishes back downstairs, but decided against it. Once I started to go up though, I think that I thought that I was off to shower and forgot that I had a tray of dishes in my hand.

I wonder if it's really a senior moment. Can it possibly be that we've reached an age where we can do more than one thing at a time? Sometimes we're just thinking of completely other things while doing something that we consider as automatic behaviour? Can it possibly be that it happens all the time and we only notice when we "miss the mark"?

Do you really think that I might be starting to do two things at the same time? I am male and have always been told by women that such a thing is impossible for me. LOL. I was thinking of showering and clearing away. Somehow the two merged. I have done better today though. Thank you Aplaza.

LOL! Thankfully, I can say I've never had that particular senior moment. But I've definitely had my share of others though. I'm trying to think of what my biggest would have been (yup, there are probably that many from which to choose!) The first one that pops into my head is trying to put things in the refrigerator that don't belong there. Like trying to put the box of cereal back in the fridge instead of back on the shelf where it belongs. I don't know if this would be considered a senior moment or not, but it's another kitchen one. I haven't rearranged my cupboards for, oh, maybe five years plus. But just out of the blue at times, I'll be putting away dishes and completely forget where certain ones go--things that are used on a daily basis too. Not things that I use once every six months. We're talking cereal bowls and dinner plates! I think I'd be in a world of hurt if I ever did decide to rearrange the cupboards. Hard telling where things would end up then. lol BTW, what wash cycle did you use when you took a spin in the dishwasher since the dishes were occupying the shower?

LOL! I'd probably be safest going on the short cycle too. I'm not that gianormous and would be concerned I'd come out even smaller if I went for the full spin.
@p1kef1sh (45681)
27 May 08
I often put the wrong dishes in the wrong cupboards too! I haven't done too much fridge stuff yet though. I should have gone on the 30 minute short cycle!! Well I'm short (ish).

You and spark will toss me right out of this discussion on my rear for "being too young to have senior moments" but it is true I do have them. Just yesterday I was running frantically around the house looking for my keys because I had to take my daughter to an appointment. I searched the kitchen, couch cushions, my bedroom, everywhere! I then thought that I might have left them in the door when I came home yesterday so I go and open my front door only to hear my vehicle running. Yes I had already gone outside and started my vehicle and only returned inside to get my purse...which as a matter of fact I didn't pick up while I was in there frantically searching for keys that were already in the ignition. So 3 blocks later when I went to reach for my purse it was not there and I had to turn around/. 2 senior moments in under 15 minutes and I am only 30! Beat that sparky, I dare you!
@p1kef1sh (45681)
22 May 08
LOL. I think that you are entitled Cyn. Years ago folk used to have key rings that beeped if you clapped your hands. Trouble was that everyone had one of the suckers. All day long, all you could hear in the office was the sound of hands clapping and everyones key rings beeping. Drove us nuts.

I am so glad to I came back to read this thread. I have not had such a good laugh in a long time. I usually get annoyed when I post at the idiot political posts. I am having so much fun. When I laugh my cat gets upset, he can't tell the difference between laughter and crying. He is knocking everything off my desk, the harder I laugh the more he knocks over. Needless to say....
@p1kef1sh (45681)

I don't comment on other countries politics so I rarely find anything to get mad about. There are people on myLot that take themselves way to seriously, so I, and some of my good friends like Cyn like to have fun - I'm putting words in her mouth here of course, but she'll forgive me, probably. We can be serious of course. But we usually end up laughing.

LOL! Well I suppose you could have washed them under the shower hose. I don't think I have ever done that but I will do silly things like go into a room to get something and completely forget what I have gone into the room for and just now I have driven all the way to Halfords as having problems with a fairly new car CD player and forgot to pick up the proof of purchase and paperwork so I have just driven all the way back again and it is here on the computer table for me to take back up there, so I popped into this discussion quickly before going again LOL. It is in my left hand as I type with right so I won't do it again. Ellie :D

I forget what I went for all the time. That must have been very frustrating forgetting your proof of purchase. When I go shopping these days I am always forgetting to take old carrier bags for re use I went through a period of keeping some in the car. Then I used them and forgot to top up again!

And I thought I was bad. Every time I am even the littlest bit distracted, whilst heading for the microwave to take something out, I open the fridge door instead. They are directly beside each other. But, when I get to 50, like you, I guess I will be awarded more moments like this, too. You have seniority.

There are many of them..and im two years ahead of you so probably there are more than yours!!But worry you not.Its natural..I watched a documentary the other night entitled `Me and my Mum`...now she was a producer of some kind,and im not totally sure but i think she lived in London.Her Mother who apparently had dementia was in a care home in Scotland,which struck me as being a wee bit daft..she was the only daughhter..so once a month she set off for Scotland.Mum seemed reasonably OK to me..no more batty than you ,I or the next man really...but the daughter kept on ..and on..and on..What did you have for lunch yesterday ` etc..and when did you do this...and when did this happen...Oh..YOUVE WET YOURSELF!!...well ..my thoughts were ..if she didnt have dementia..after a visit or two from her daughter she surely would have had it then!!!...I mean to say...can you remember off the top of your hat whatt you ate and did last week???..because i certainly cant!!!!

Im only 52 im too young for that yet! LOL! Perhaps you were deep in thought. Once right after my first grandson was born i was facing surgery and after taking a shower i stuck a q-tip up my nose. While i was looking in the mirror too. I was deep in thought about the surgery i was about to have. It wasnt till i felt the q-tip up my nose that it actually woke me back to earth.

I'm not old enough to have a 'senior moment', but I do have 'MS moments' all the time! My latest was yesterday afternoon--I'm driving a friend home. I know the area I'm driving around, and asked him, "Going to the shop?" As soon as he said yes, I turned down the wrong road! And here I'm thinking I'll remember to ask him early! Most of mine are dealing with work...standing in front of 10 or 15 ladies and I totally blank out on what I'm holding--how embarassing!

Rotflmao Pike, too funny Sugar. You must have something on your mind. I find that if I am thinking about something, and my mind is preoccupied, the daily motions of living are being run on auto pilot and that leads to things of this nature. I think the worst thing I have done in recent month was when I took my grand daughter to wal-mart with me, I had so much shopping to do and we were int here a rather long time. I came out of the store and proceeded to go to where my car was park... Well where I thought my car was parked. I looked everywhere for the damn thing, Emily even started to panic, Nana did we lose the car? I was just about to go into wal mart and ask for security (thinking my car had been stolen) when I remembered I was not in my car, but rather my husbands..... I had been looking for the wrong dang car!

Oh that is hillarious. I have them all of the time. I tend to go to the store and move things around on shelves. Then realize I'm not at home, I'm at the store, quit redecorating. Geez!! The other day I went into the kitchen to get a soda and fed the cat. Came back without the soda and hubby says, " I thought you went to get something to drink". Duh!!! This is too funny, p1ke! Poor baby, but you're not alone, trust me, oh please, trust me! I recently carried the house phone out to Robin's car with me and had no idea that it was in my hand till I got into the car and saw it there. The other day, when I went to do some errands, including posting your package, I left the house without the package. So I thought I'd go home and get it, after I was done at the bank. Well, after the bank, I just started riding down to where I was going to meet Stu - not back home. Ooops! Turn around - go back home - get the package - ok, NOW I can head to that part of the neighborhood. That's not even to mention how I lose my glasses 17 times a day. I have to keep multiple pairs around the house just because of that. I've put the tv remote in the fridge. I'm forever forgetting what I've gotten up and gone into the next room for. Senior moments? Ha! Senior LIFE!
@p1kef1sh (45681)
22 May 08
And I thought that I was having my moments. You never know when the phone might ring. Maybe it was handy to keep it in Robin's car. I just hope that when you send out your next load of packages, nobody gets your phone rather than that little bundle of delight that you think you are sending!!

I forget... Seriously though, I have them all the time, can't think of a specific one right now. But it's pretty common for me to go into another room to get something and by the time I have gotten there I have forgotten what I came for!
