With all of the changes going on to lessen the use of fossil fuels, and people now trying to cut energy use simply to save on their gas/electric bills, do you think there's any hope that we can slow down global warming? What are you doing to cut your energy bill?

Hi
The optimistic side of me certainly hopes that we can slow down global warming and the future catastrophic effects. The push to be eco friendly and energy wise is a great step. I do such things as always turning off power bars to computers, tv's etc... whn I am not using them. This is a major energy leak and greatly reduces the electricity use. The pessimistic side of me says it is probably too late. I guess we will go with the optimism! :)
cheers,

No, we can not slow global warming because we are not the cause of it. The Sun is the major driving force behind our climate, not man.
In fact, there has been no warming since 1998, and last year there was some cooling with the oceans temperature dropping by 1 degree Celsius.
The IPCC recently said that man made global warming has been put on hold for the next decade due to natural causes, which I found very interesting considering that they claim we are "very likely" responsible for the climate changes.
Here is an interesting article and a very informative, fairly short and easy to understand video about the causes of climate change, and it is NOT what Al Gore and the IPCC would like us to believe...

As far as our energy bill, our apartment is very well insulated with good windows and is very economical to heat and cool.

Manmade global warming is almost certainly a myth. The climate has always gone through variations, and there have been times in the past when the global climate has been warmer than it is now. Any difference the human race can make to that is negligible at best.

ya..sure why not..We are living in a world which going through a rapid turnaround phase, technology is developing fast & we are having more energy-efficient devices. For instance, earlier most of us used CRT monitors which have a power rating of as high as 70-100 W,but many of us nowadays are switching over or even switched to LCD monitors. So, these kinds of steps are always great morale boosters for containing Global Warming.
So, we must aim at adopting latest technology which is energy & fits in our pockets too.
