Do you work an extra job?

Hi everyone, I have recently started thinking that it would be a good idea to work an extra part time job. I currently have a full time job and put in about 40 hours a week, but have been thinking a second income source would be a great idea. My girlfriend does not agree. What about you? Do you work multiple jobs? Is it worth it? cheers,

I do have a second job but it is casual. I work at a gas station on my days off. I don't have a set schedule there, but I do tell the manager when my days off and schedule around them. I work overnites so she is very understanding that I don't work too many days there. This job is basically extra gas money for me. You need to do what is right for you. Does your girlfriend work? It can be worth it if you feel you need the extra money. Good luck with your decision.

Hi There, Yes, she works as well. We both put in very full weeks and make pretty good money. I am just trying to get rid of the debt I have from a previous marriage.

Are your finances so strained that you need a second job in order to survive? I do agree that having more money is better than having less but you also have to take your relationship with your girlfriend into account. Will this extra job cut into the time you and she spend together and by how much? Personally, I only work one job and spend the rest of my time with my husband and family. If we needed the money I would work a second job but I could understand him not being too happy with me if I took one because I just wanted to have more money on hand.

Hi, You do make some very good points. I was looking to get an extra job to pay off debt quicker basically. My first job lets us live comfortably. cheers,

I think it depends on why you want or need a second job. Are you trying to catch up on bills? Save for a home? Do you have children? I think working a second job for a short period of time may be worth it if you have a specific goal you're working for. In my opinion though, if you have a family & don't need to work more hours it's not worth it. Children are only children for such a short period of time, missing those years isn't worth having a few extra dollars.

Hello golfproo, I only have a 9-5 job. I can't even find an extra job due to some reasons. It is a good idea to get an extra job to supplement your income. If you think it is a good way to double your income, why not? I understand why your girlfriend doesn't agree with you. Maybe she thinks that you will spend less time with her if you do a part time job.

ive just started doing here in mylot. although its not that big i think it can help a little. but i am hoping to earn much too. my boyfriend does not agree also on doing a second job. because i am already tired and exhausted from work when i got home at night. i also do graphic layouting and audio-video presentations. i want to earn extra cash so i could pay all my debts in a shorter span of time. so that i can keep some for the things i wanna buy myself.
