I think that's great news! It's a wonderful opportunity to make a lot of money really fast. I'm going to stock up on diet books very cheaply and hawk them at airports!
Maybe if I can get a stock of fast working laxatives and diuretics I may be able to make a deal with the washroom attendants at airports too.
Just kidding folks!
Personally I think that it's only fair to ask to pay for extra baggage. Although I think that longer distances should have at least some amount of kilos/or pounds of baggage that should be free. I mean heck if I'm going on a vacation to a distant place then I don't want to be slapped with a bill for my normal suitcase at the airport.
And well for the sake of being argumentative here I suppose I don't mind if they ask people who are grossly obese to pay a little extra. I mean heck if somebody weighs 400 pounds and there is a fatty convention so the plane is half full of them then they'd need a lot more fuel to get there wouldn't they?

thanks aplaza...you have brought a few things into perspective. If there are a lot of overwieght people on the plane then yes they will need to use more fuel I suppose.
In reference to the baggage...its not saying extra baggage its all your baggage they are saying that you need to pay extra for. I understand that they may need to do this with fuel prices rising...but it is just crazy that it has even come to this.

Oh wow! I have not heard of the weigh in before boarding. How embarassing! I imagine there is going to be alot of uproar over it. I did read that as of June 13th, US Airways will be charging a $15 fee for your first piece of checked baggage and $25 for a second.
We flew US Airways at Christmas and one of our bags weighed 50.8 pounds. The weight limit is 50 pounds and they charged us the extra fee. A whopping $50!! We were so mad especially since the first bag only weighed 30. Any way to make money I guess.

Have heard this in the news too and I think this is just insane! I mean, being charged a fee based on your weight. That is just too much. Wouldn't you think that the extra fees that they have been charging is enough. Not for them! They keep of thinking ways on how to pass onto the passengers the burden of running their business.
I know they have to earn money as well. But couldn't they think of other ways to earn money. Maybe, cut the salary of their CEO's and Board members who are earning millions of dollars aside from the millions of benefit at the expense of the passengers.

i heard they do the arm chair test which is just freaky . if you can sit and have the arm chair come down you dont have to pay more . that is just rude to me
