What are your thoughts on young children and trampolines? I have 2 very active little boys and thought a trampoline would help get rid of some of that energy. My husband has a completely different opinion. He thinks they are too dangerous. I'm trying to convince him that if you buy one with the safety enclosure, teach your children the safety rules, and not allow them on it without an adult present, they're really not that bad. I grew up with a trampoline and never got hurt. They didn't have safety enclosures back then. What's your opinion?

i can fly!! - LOL my daughter on...well above LOL the trampoline
Depending on the ages of your kids a safety enclosure may NOT be the best idea.... That said though, my kids have been bouncing around on trampolines for a few yrs now (their cousins which ended up being given to us when she got a larger one LOL).. Now if your kids are REALLY little then I think they would be fine WITH ADULT SUPERVISION of course and VERY strict, set rules about the use of the trampoline....

My kids are 3 and 6 so I think it's the perfect age. I would never let them get on without adult supervision. I don't even let them go outside alone. I guess you could call me an overprotective mother.

I think they are dangerous, but they are also a great way for kids to get rid of energy :) If they are active they're just as likely to get into something more dangerous. If you get one, make sure it has the safety net. I think buying a good quality one with safety features is perfectly ok.

Looking back, I don't know how my brothers didn't break something on our trampoline. I don't even think we had pads over the springs.

We don't have a trampoline for our daughter but we will get her one - you just need to make sure you get one of the new fancy ones :) They come with the safety nets & they also have springs on the sides, not around the top like they used to - that way there are no springs to get caught up in while jumping. These are a little dearer but much safer - then you have a rule of 1 child on the trampoline at a time & they should be just fine. I grew up with a trampoline as well & apart from a few bumps after colliding with my siblings or us being silly, the whole thing was fine! I guess it depends on your kids ages as well. I'm sure if you got your kids a trampoline they'd be fine - maybe you could get your hubby to be the supervisor - then he could see what goes on in there for himself.
