Muffin papers

I hate using muffin papers. I especially hate buying a muffin in a shop only to lose half the muffin because they use the papers on them. I worked at Macdonald's for a while and they had silicon baking pans that you just popped the muffins out of no paper no fuss...But suddenly they're using papers again and I'm hating having to peel the paper off and lose the bits of muffin and they seem "soggy" when they are in paper. I bought some of the silicon pans for myself and I love them my muffins are so easy to eat you just take it off the plate and go. No mess and no fuss.

A friend of mine is into baking. She loves to make muffins but doesn't have a muffin pan. A couple of months ago I gave her a silicone muffin pan and a box of muffin-mix as a birthday gift. Well she said she really liked it and to prove it she made up the muffins and put the pan with the batter in the oven. Then suddenly the oven started eminating a lot of smoke! Within seconds we were surrounded by thick blue clouds of smoke. We "saved" the muffins and opened the windows. It wasn't really clear what had caused that. The muffins tasted great though. A few weeks ago I had her on the phone and she remarked that she'd made muffins and used the pan. She mentioned that she'd also used the little paper cases....I didn't have the heart to tell her that you don't need to use them with a silicon pan!

I was told you werent supposed to use the papers with the silicon pans. I did find the first couple times i made anything in the silicon pans everything was sticky Now after many uses things just pop right out.

I don't have silcon pans and I like muffin papers. I know what you're saying though and had the same feelings about them for a long time. Now I just spray the muffin papers with cooking spray and no more mess, fuss or lost muffin bits.

Thats a neat Idea. I'll have to keep that in mind if i make cupcakes for a bake sale or to take for a party and use the neat muffin papers.

i dont have silicone, but i dont use muffin papers either. if you spray the muffin tin with PAM or something similar, the muffins just pop right out after baking (while they are still warmish).

I never thought to try that. When i use more than my 12 spots next time on the silicone pans I'll have to give that a try. Thank you.
