do not lose the friendship... tell her straight though that you should really be friends right now because you do not love her romantically. i am sure she will understand you and will love you still. do not stay away from her.

I think you should first ask yourself what you want. And do you love her after she tells you. And its not a bad thing. So many peoples are there who were firstly just friends and after realise something they become partner. The important thing is do you like her i am asking because you also posted that she is good in nature and look. So i think you are also thinking of saying yes to her. If you really dont like her as a lover then just say her its over there is nothing to take so long. Ask her to continue as a friend if she neglect then it doesnt mean that you have to tell her again and again she is your best friend so she can understand. You havent given more info so i can not suggest you exact. I think you should give some more info.

just tell her nicely that you only see her as a bestfriend.. i'm sure she'll get hurt no matter what.. but explain to her that your friendship is more important to you. good luck!
