Has anybody any idea where I can get help?

My husband is in the hospital with leukemia for the second time in the last month for kemo treatments. Most of the "general" places I have talked with said they could not help with the bills that keep mounting because he retired last year from corrections and he took his lump sum from retirement to pay off all our bills and start his reloading business. It doesn't matter that the money is all gone(and wasn't spent on foolish things) and his business hardly makes anything right now. All they see is that the money was there 6 months ago and they won't help. We have no health insurance as it costs so much and couldn't get it now even if we tried now. We do not have much of anything. Just poor people tring to survie. Our home is so old that it probably needs to be torn down. We have never asked for any kind of help before in our lves and I haven't a clue as to where to look for help now. Does anybody have any suggestions?

i live in the united kingdom. I am not sure if this will help but why not try Luekemia charity organisation if you have the internet type in luekeamia research and see what sites you are able to get.
I am sure there are some charities that help financially.
If I lived closer I would send you a bit of money even though I have a pittance of sick pay myself.
I am sending you a healing prayer and a prayer for money to come your way.
I am so sorry you are in this position.

I am not very well educated in this area and soo sorry to hear of your situation. I am also not sure if this is of much help, try explaining to the Doctor and the Clinic about your financial situation, my daughter had a situation like this and could not afford her medications, the Doctor gave her a contact # inwhich "Catholic Charities" helped in providing her medications. I am not sure if you are social security, but if not try and get on disability and medicare. If he is a vet, he qualifies for help through them as well. Also, if you tell your Doctor and the Clinic that you are unable to pay the costs, you maybe able to get them to deduct some of it. I have a friend who always tells her Doctor she can't afford it, and they lower her costs. I hope this is helpful, and hope that things work out for the best.

Thank you for caring. Disability and medicare said they would not help due to him having that retirement money(that he used to pay off bills and start his business). The doctor is trying but to date hasn't come up with anything either except the hospital did today give him a form to fill out for help on meds. We will have to wait and see if that helps. We are still facing all the other medicial bills that are mounting daily.
