The Texas Appeals Court ruled that the state authorities had no right to remove all of the children from the Polygamists'sect ranch in Texas earlier this year. Stating that Protective Services did not present enough evidence that the children were in danger, the original rulings were overturned. Over 400 children were removed from individual homes from within the sect. this sounds as if it could turn into a HUGE mess. What do you think?

Personally, I think that the ruleing was more because of the lack of places to put the kids than the fact that the kids actually WERE in danger there. Especially the girls. I think it's just awful that they are going back home after all of the things that go on there.

I saw something else in the news today where Child Protective Services are going to fight the Appeals Court decision. Some of the girls were declared adults and one of the girls that they thought was pregnant, was not. I also wondered if the Appeals Court decision might have been based partially on the fact that this was going to be the largest, probably most expensive, child custody case in history. With the already heavy load that Child Protective Services must have, can you imagine in one day's time having an extra 400 children needing placement added to the workload? YIKES!

That's exactly what I was thinking too. The expense and the recent cutbacks have got to have something to do with the dicission that was made.
