The worst drivers in America

Are found in New Jersey! I read this morning (AOL or Yahoo?) that New Jersey drivers weren't just the lowest ranked this year, they were the lowest ranked EVER! (seeing as I'm from this illustrious state, why am I not surprised?) And here we thought it was the Philly drivers (at least around here) that were bad...sheesh!

Hmmmm - and here I thought it was because all the Philly drivers moved over here to get out of the city to be in the (no longer) country. LOL
But, yes, our drivers are aggressive; believe the road was made exclusively for them; won't take no or a red light for an answer; believe that "no turn on red" is merely an artistic expression; think if you're going 75 in a 65 mph zone, you're too slow and will tell you you're #1 in a rather rude way and, on occasion, almost force you off the road, as one did to my daughter just last week.
Yeah - not JUST NJ, but this entire NYC-DC metro area is HORRIBLE for traffic!!
Sometimes, I really miss Arizona!!

Exactly! I'm in NJ, grew up in what WAS a small town and you could cross the streets safely. Then Toll Brothers came in, changed zoning rules and built WAY too many McMansions! Now we've been forced to build a new 'upper elementary' school, expand the high school (I graduated in 1989 and went back last fall for my daughter's back to school night--I only recognized ONE hallway intersection!) and middle schools (they took out the home ec room to expand the media center!) and it's so dangerous to cross certain streets that the kids HAVE to take a bus! It's no wonder they've gained so much weight!

Well, I admit, I haven't run into that yet, but that's not to say it hasn't crossed my mind when I'm telling one of them off from the limited safety of the driver's seat. LOL
Yep - WAY too many people. And they just keep building more and more houses. I no longer live in a rural area. I hate it!! And those people impose their city styles on the community and suddenly, they tell the "always been heres" how it's going to be. I really, truly hate it!!
My friend says - but, people need places to live! Yeah? And where were they BEFORE they moved into this McMansion that used to be cow pasture? Living in their cars???

Got that right - of course, we've always been bused because the high school is about 5 miles away in what little rurality is left, but I lived out west for 19 years and when I came home, I thought they'd built a MALL! It is grotesque!! I graduated with 197 people in my class and the school covered 7 small towns. I seriously doubt any class has less than 300 now.

Hmmm, and I thought the blue haired old ladies driving the huge cars in Miami were the worst drivers in the world.

I think the worst drivers are people who are drunk. They shoud not drink when they are going to drive. It is very dangerous.

Not at all! We had a driver speed past my house where there's a large bump in the roadway (another street intersects it, crossing over some railroad tracks) and he went airborne! My neighbor and I walked up to the house where the driver was parked and she berated him for speeding, especially since her 2-year-old was out front with us. His excuse? "I'm renting it and it's a 6-cyllinder, I'm not used to driving a 6-cyllinder". Um, the speed limit in a residential area is 25 mph!

I'm not the least bit surprised. Those drivers were ranked correctly. On the road, they are the worst, doing things like speeding, changing lanes without signalling, driving way too aggressively, etc. They've taken all of the fun out of driving. Oh well. Maybe when gas goes all the way to 10 dollars a gallon, maybe we'll see fewer of them. The roads should be a bit safer as well.

I want to remove every third house, or even every other one, but then perhaps what they'll do is all move in together. YIKES! Thanks for responding!

I'm from Jersey and I have to agree with you to an extent. I have to say that people coming thru Jersey from Pennsylvania and New York are also bad drivers. They get in the fast lane on our roads and stay there. They just cruise along not letting anyone in that want to use that lane to pass. I also have to say that there are alot of immigrants in this state that can't read our road signs and drive very badly.I would say the Chinese, the Eastern Indians, and alot of Latinos are the culprits.

I'm outside Philly, so that's why I mentioned that (growing up, the vast majority of bad drivers were from Philly), but I agree...it's a combination of factors. I have found that a fair number of native born Americans just don't know the rules of the road! My street lacks speed limit signs, but it's a residential area. To me, that means 25 MPH, NOT 50 or 60! And the worst part? The cops in my town can't catch anyone (or don't want to), but they'll issue tickets 1 mile over the speed limit to a bus driver!

Chinese drivers are similar.
I figure that Japanese drivers are the best in the world.

Well, I'm not sure (I've never been to either country), so I'll take your word for it. Thanks for sharing!
