Best way to cool off when upset...

What do you guys do to calm down when you're upset or royally, well, really angry... Lately, I've been under the weather & I noticed I've been getting annoyed & agitated easier than normal... I find myself being upset over somethings that I don't usually get upset over... Any suggestions on relaxation techniques?

hello! i share the same sentiment with you at times. well, what i usually do is to go outside and breath some fresh air, i mean real deep breathing. specially when i'm upset with the kids, i usually do that. everyday early in the morning, i play tennis just to relieve myself from the previous day's stress. most importantly, i pray. :D

Not sure on playing tennis part but I understand what you mean, though... I should find a way to releive stress... Breathing & praying is good... Thanks for the reply & suggestions...

Well when I feel like that I write stories. I really love writing and it helps me vent out my feelings. Or you could try the classic screaming into the pillow. lol.

I tried that once, screaming into the pillow I mean... Suprisingly enough, it actually worked for that situation... Not a bad idea... I should try that more often... I'm not sure about writting but I do love just driving around... Doing something I like doing to get my mind off of an anger is great idea... I should try that as well... Thanks for the reply & suggestions...

there are a lot of was out there. i actually take a deep breath and also my relaxing depends on where i am. If there are animals then i will think about the inner life of an animal and the "quests" they have everyday and think about how i would act if i were one. I'd end up making fun of myself somehow and then id laugh because i usually try my best not to take life too seriously. I mean think about it. One of my favorite quotes is, dont't take life too seriously...nobody ever makes it out alive anyway. I take a few deep breaths force my mind to go blank for a bit if theres people around me. I im alone then i will find my camera and photography definitely helps me through tough times. Have you tried taking up knitting? it's such a great stress reliever! yes, men do knit too. ;) I also text or vent to my friend because she always turns my situation funny. Or you can write on your wrist, 'I get to' to remind yourself just how great your life is and how fortunate you are that you Get to talk to your friends and that you have a job or something good. Music is also very calming and just going for a walk is amazing. There are SO many things out there that you can do. Theres even a thing on the internet floating around, that if youre stressed about a computer then you can download this thing called stress relief and it gives you little hammers and chainsaws that you can 'kill' your computer with. xD its quite amusing. ;) just ask me if you want more ideas on relieving stress. ;)
