Anxiety and depression are pretty common now. Both mental disorders can be pretty crippling and some people don't want to take medicine or just can't take medicine for one reason or the other. Today, I stumbled across an article that suggests burning incense affects the brain and helps relieve anxiety and depression. It sort of acts like an anti-depressant.
If anyone is interested in this, you can read the article here : http://www.physorg.com/news130511055.html
Giving this piece of information, will you be interested in trying this type of 'treatment' for yourself? Incense is pretty cheap and burning a stick a day not only makes your home smell nice but may have a health benefit.
I guess it suddenly makes sense to me why I like incense so much!

I love burning incense but my husband hates it and he is always throwing it out when I buy it. Does it happen to matter what scent it is? I love most of the scents. But my husband say they irritate his breathing so if I do happen to sneak mor ein I can't do it while he is home or about to be home. He keeps unplugging my glade plugins and closing the air freshener cones. Anything with scent sends him into coughing fits sometimes.

The article suggests that Frankincense has the affect but I'm not sure if other scents would work or not. I think if you enjoy incense and feel better burning it then the scent probably does not matter.

I will have to give it a try. I usually get the lavender scented ones they seem to calm me and help me not to feel so stressed which in turns lowers my high blood pressure. Vanilla also helps me. It centers me. I just wish hubby could stand it and actually enjoyed it as I do it would detress him as well if he could stand it burning,

But in incense there are varieties.Which smell is more effective ? I got caught in a crisis and stuck up after starting a blog on depression and anxiety at www.sripedia.blogspot.com. I need some feedback, not whether it is good or bad, but how to go further ? Thank you.

If you had read the article, it suggests Frankincense may be the most beneficial but I'm sure other varieties may help.

I have heard that burning incense and using aromatherapy can relieve anxiety. I have not burned incense before, but have found aromatherapy does wonders to relax me. It's really soothing, and I would recommend it to anyone, incense or something like it.

I use aromatherapy a bit. I use a lavender spray around bedtime and spray it on my pillow to help relax me. When I pair that with other things like an herbal tea, a hot bath or whatever it really helps me get to sleep.

I have heard that this is supposed to help, but have never really tried it as most incense are too strong to want to burn too long. For me though I have found other ways and products that seem to be calming as well.

Most time, its my work..with ontime deliveries and work loads. I try to divert mind on music and i feel better. We need to manage depression, as it is part of life in busy world.
But if we concentrate, we can manage it. I does it through my yoga, listening music and going out on vacation.
