Mississippi River Sunset

Minneapolis Minnesota - From near downtown on the Mississippi River.

I went to Downtown Minneapolis early Thursday evening for a rest and to take some photos all over. I stopped along the Mississippi River bank and saw the sunset and set up my camera and got this shot. What do you think? Do you like sunsets falling across a river or any other body of water? That is really beautiful. I love sunsets especially by a body of water. Do you have any more, I'm sure you took many photo's. I would have taken them until it got too dark. .

I love sunsets in any form. But especially over bodies of water. There is a restaurant in Austin, Texas that we go to whenever we are there. It has 17 decks for maximum seating that looks out over a beautiful lake. It is a popular place to go and watch the sunset. It is such a awesome act of beauty that just as the sun sets completely, a bell is rung and the entire restaurant applauds. I get chills every time.

Canon PowerShot A540 - A shot from the canon website of the model I have
A middle of the range digital. It's a Canon PowerShotA540 digital with 4x optical zoom and 6.0 megapixels. Not very exspensive but not cheap either. it serves the purpose and does great shots I think with the right tweaking of the flash and exposure settings etc. It's taken me awhile and I am still learning all the bells and whistles in this camera. I love sunsets over the water..I live on a lake and never tire of seeing the beauty of a sunset on the waters horizon..I will check out the picture and comment there..

I love sunsets, especially photos like this. It always makes me think of the end of life and how even though we ourselves have faded away and moved on, there is the light of the other world reflecting on our memories, urging us forward as our sun sets. Morbid, aren't I? But that makes me happy when I see the sun setting on the water.

What a beautiful picture. Makes me wish I was sitting on a bank somewhere like that and having a blanket and a picnic lunch or dinner. I love the night time critter noises also and looking up at the stars after the sun goes down.

Oh! What an absolutely gorgeous photo! Very beautiful! I've never taken a sunset photo (or any photo for that matter) at a river before... but I take a lot of shots of the sun setting over the ocean or a lake. Bodies of water are so beautiful to capture what with all of the reflections in the water... And at sunset it's even more beautiful with all the fantastic colors!
