If you are alone and if you have symptoms of chest pain that radiates to your arm and up to your jaw, it is a HEART ATTACK. If no one can help you and the hospital is far from you, you have to help yourself and do the following:
1. cough repeatedly and vigorously
2. take deep breathe before every cough
Deep breaths gets oxygen to the lungs, coughing keeps blood circulation alive.
Save your life! Life is too short to waste it

Yes, Heart attack warning signs and what all you have to do to save yourself
Heart Attack Warning Signs
Some heart attacks are sudden and intense — the "movie heart attack," where no one doubts what's happening. But most heart attacks start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. Often people affected aren't sure what's wrong and wait too long before getting help. Here are signs that can mean a heart attack is happening:
Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.
Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.
Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort.
Other signs may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness
As with men, women's most common heart attack symptom is chest pain or discomfort. But women are somewhat more likely than men to experience some of the other common symptoms, particularly shortness of breath, nausea/vomiting, and back or jaw pain.
Learn the signs, but remember this: Even if you're not sure it's a heart attack, have it checked out (tell a doctor about your symptoms). Minutes matter! Fast action can save lives — maybe your own. Don’t wait more than five minutes to call 9-1-1.
Calling 9-1-1 is almost always the fastest way to get lifesaving treatment. Emergency medical services (EMS) staff can begin treatment when they arrive — up to an hour sooner than if someone gets to the hospital by car. EMS staff are also trained to revive someone whose heart has stopped. Patients with chest pain who arrive by ambulance usually receive faster treatment at the hospital, too. It is best to call EMS for rapid transport to the emergency room.
If you can't access the emergency medical services (EMS), have someone drive you to the hospital right away. If you're the one having symptoms, don't drive yourself, unless you have absolutely no other option.

Hi,
Till it happens in our neighbourhood or in our family, we would not take it seriously. All of the were in their fifties and sixties.
My grandma just passed away in the loo. She wanted to move her bowels, she went there but didn't come out. Sometime later when my grandpa opened the door, she had passed away half an hour back the doctor said.
We can take care and try to prevent it but then these are not in our hands. This is where we believe in God, these things are destined to happen and will happen, we cannot stop them.

Yeah you're right. It's not in our hands. All we can do is pray for our family and relatives and of course try to prevent this from happening. Condolences to your grandma. It must have been tough for your grandpa. Oh well, at least she's in heaven now.

Hey madlees! Tnx for that great information..I know someone who had that movie heart attack and it seemed like the person was just sleeping but it turned out he was already experiencing this pain but cannot talk about it. It has been a very critical situation for his family because he was hospitalized for a week or two. And very expensive for them too. Heart attacks really are our quiet enemies.

Coughing also may help to regulate your heart rhythm in case of arrhythmia. Great information! Thanks for posting. More people should know what to do in case of a heart attack.

Arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat. It is not the same as palpitations. They feel as though your heart is flip flopping, and they are harmless.
It sounds to me like you're having panic attacks. They will do this to you. But I am in no way a professional or expert on the subject. If you think you're having a heart attack, the best thing to do is to get to the hospital immediately. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks. I think i'm having panic attacks but have not gone to a doctor yet for a check up. I'll do that. Oh is that arrhythmia? That sounds really scary. But as you said, it's not harmful. That's better. Really thanks for the info.

Pain, fullness, and/or squeezing sensation of the chest
Jaw pain, toothache, headache
Shortness of breath
Nausea, vomiting, and/or general epigastric (upper middle abdomen) discomfort
Sweating
