I recently noticed my 8 month old son turning his head to the television whenever Tom & Jerry is on. Doesn't even blink while laughing every time Tom punches, kicks or throw Jerry..My 8 year old son is watching it also and they both laugh hard as if enjoying the violence..For me, it's violence because kids might think that they can do those things to animals or worst to people..That's why whenever I see my older son watching it, I tell him I dont like it and explains to him why..It's my opinion..What's yours?

My 15 month old likes to watch it. I still watch it myself so I don't mind.

They were good for me and they could be good for anyone.
They become part of our growing up fun and I see nothing wrong with passing them onto our kids.
Everybody sees them as two little animals, by the way, violence only passes on when children see adults being violent, or at least I think so.
I wouldn't worry too much about that.

They are great, I am a huge fan of Tom and Jerry.
For a kid about 8 months any cartoon or for that matter any television show is not good, but a kid about 8 years can enjoy the cartoons, they know the differences between the cartoon's world and the real world.

It does commit a bad influence nowadays. Back then when it was made, they don't give a darn thing.

It can have a bad influence as they are always trying to harm each other. My nephew watched this when he was little. He was about two when he started throwing books at us thinking that this is a normal thing to do. After all, both, Tom and Jerry, are always fine after an attack. It took us throwing books back at him to make it clear that it does hurt. He got the message and we avoided the show.
