to write for fun without getting paid? I know, I'm crazy. I love mylot, I'm here everyday. But sometimes I need a break_ and writing for this website stimulates and refreshes my mind. The link is on my page. I hope I'm not breaking mylot guidelines with this discussion. It will be deleted if I'm wrong. So_ sorry admin if I messed up. Am I crazy or do you think creative writing expands your mind and helps you earn money on paying websites?

That's the best attitude you can have. Good thinking!

I don't think you're breaking guidelines, because you said the site is for writing for fun. I do write when I can. Hopefully to be published one day. But since I have the ever common problem of never completing a full work, I've taken to writing on a blog. It's a little for fulfilling because people can read as you write and can comment. This encourages continued writing. http://theserialnovelist.blogspot.com Feel free to read and comment. (NOTE: other than my appreciation there is no compensation for commenting. LOL!)

I'm pretty sure it's ok. If a link correlates, or assists in making a point to the discussion, then it is ok, as long as it does not point to another money-making site.

Nice idea to work on a story. I took a peek and it all looks good. Did your last chapter include the link to the beginning of the story for your new readers? I looked two days ago and I didn't see one. I checked on it today, but I forgot to see if the link is there. If I pop over to check again, I'll lose this comment_ It's weird, this morning I was wondering what happened to our conversation? And then you commented today and I happened to see it today _ hmm time to check on my favourite theory - cosmic or coincidence that we linked up today?

Are you sure you can put your blog link in here?

Here is my opinion on creative writing: I think writing for writings's sake is a good enough reward. Many of us enjoy putting words down and we get great satisfaction from it. That is an end in itself. Getting paid for what we write is helpful, but should not be a necessary thing. I am thinking about how we put great stock in a book that has been chosen by a publisher to be published. Most often, the book is chosen, not only on its merit, but mostly on whether the book, article, etc. fits in to the publisher's current needs. If an author is good, he is good. Published or not. It is for this reason that I am whole heartedly for anyone who puts enough stock in his writings to self publish. Just be careful who you choose to partner with in self publishing. I found a local publishing company that does not charge an arm and a leg and will format your book for you. Most online publishers want you to format the book, which is a huge pain. So, keep up the writing. I am anxious to go to your link and read what you've got to say.

I agree. You can get burned by publishers. I always tell my friends exactly what you said. I don't write to get published, I write because it fills my heart with joy.

It probably does, but I have no time! This is one of those rare days when I'm not writing for profit (at this moment, I'm posting for enjoyment!) and I usually have no time for creative writing. Sometimes I write a few lines that pop into my head. That may or may not inspire me to post here or influence my other writing. I find that just sitting outside and thinking of nothing is the best way to stimulate my mind and my imagination. I'm always surprised at the thoughts that pop into my head when I consciously think of nothing!

I'm trying to figure out how you consciously think of nothing? Meditation? :)

dragon_ sorry so long in response. The system doesn't tell us when new comments are added to ongoing conversations between friends. (I don't think) It sounds like you found your own way to meditate. I won't tell anyone you smoke if you won't tell anyone I do_
