Do you ever wonder about the IQ level of some of your fellow mylotters?

I have come across some crazy posts here. I don't mean those one cannot understand because spelling, sentence structure, grammar and such are so bad the statement just doesn't make sense. I mean the actual content. Is it just me or do you, too, sometimes read the discussion and wonder about the IQ level of that particular mylotter. And it goes both ways. I have seen some really dumb statements to the point where I have wondered if a child wrote that. And I have seen some very eloquent, well thought out, and highly educated statements where I find myself thinking if the person has some high level academic degree in that respective field.

Maybe you just can not really understanding their really meanings!
That is a free space for people to talk, discuss and chat with other, if you do not want that, you just skip that! :)

i suppose that some time people use Mylot as a English learning forum, isn't it. because other languages are not allow here. and some time if you want to learn a language then you have to express yourself in that particular language. and you have to interact with other. and here we got that chance. what do you think..

I understand that part. And no I didn't mean you, lol. But I have come across some really dumb stuff and some really smart stuff. With some of the dumb stuff I wonder how the person survived this long, lol. And often these discussions don't receive a response, either. I was just wondering, if you have come across something where you have asked yourself if this person is really that dumb or just posting a discussion for the sake of posting a discussion no matter how dumb the topic.

Those intelligent questions were never responded. Maybe the level of understanding and relation to common interest of those intelligent questions do not meet the interest of most myLotters. Take care =)

I think quite a few of the folks that post here are not native English speakers. Therefore, their grammer, spelling and style of composition may not be what you are used to. However, this is a good place to practice those skills, so please, be patient.

You as so many other posters missed the point. I was talking about content and specifically excluded grammar, spelling, and style of composition. I'm ESL myself. I know how hard it is. I just think for some of the discussions posted here the content is plain old dumb and I wonder if I'm dealing with a little child. Others posts are highly sophisticated.

Content, not structure or thought was at the issue. I specifically posted that i was not talking about grammar and style.

I have come across those posts too. It just irritated me so I skipped them. There are indeed highly intellectual posts here but there are no response nor comments. It only means that there a very few people who have the same interest and knowledge to those subjects. Some of the myLotters are here for the money not for the meaningful discussion or forum that they will earn. They are after the points and the money. If you'll notice, there are more posts about "money" you've earned than other things. The quality of myLot community is being at stake.
This site is free to everyone and we cannot really filter as the administration itself doesn't filter it. This site is all about money making. Let's respect them as they respect us. Take care =)

I have never seen something like that I guess. But if I would ever come across such as discussion as you have said, I guess I would just leave the discussion be. No time to bother about it. I just to my next discussion to where I can spend my time for more productive post. That's it.

yes there are so many myLotter, who don't know English very well including me. actually there are all the members from all over the world. the style of writing is also different. some time people don't use correct English. some time they use short form of any word. but i found some most intelligent and well educated person here. i like them. because their posts are very interesting, and eloquent, well thought, and highly educated.
i want to tell you one thing initially, i was using dictionary, to understand any discussion. but now i feel much better in English, due to some that type of Educated my lotters.

I didn't mean the language capabilities. English is not my first language either. I have complete understanding for that. I was referring to the content of some of the discussions posted. I just find myself wondering if a fellow mylotter is really that dumb or just posting a dumb question/comment for the sake of posting, lol. And sometimes I'm simply awed by how well laid out a discussion topic is and how much thought was put into it.
I wanted to know if somebody else had similar experiences when reading the discussions.

I have encountered one and I think he's just copying his posts from some books. I wasn't going to respond but I was itching to know if he understands me. Not that the person has low IQ or plain stu*id but I don't think he understands what most of us do here..I didn't make a rude remark or tease him, I just asked him a simple question..And he hasn't replied yet..lol..

Content, not style was the issue. I don't care how you phrase it. I'm ESL myself. But with some discussion topics I wonder how old the poster is.
