I Thought You were My Friend

Your fangs exposed behind the smile
While you twist the knife a little deeper
I saw what you try to hide from the world
For you made me your keeper.
I never wanted to try to fix you
But you were always in my face
Confronting me with your sickness
And robbing me of my grace.
The tracks across my heart tell a tale
Of character that is out of fashion
I lived a life where I came last
My weakness is my compassion.
I never wanted to try to fix you
But you can't say the same
You projected on me your flaws to correct
I was a pawn in your ego game.
You abused a friendship I freely gave
The trust I had in you
I am taking it back, you can't betray me again
What else would you have me do?
Have you ever had someone you thought was a friend and then they betrayed you? What happened? What did you do to move past the betrayal?

What a deep poem! Very touching. I guess the worst that I have a problem with some of my friends, sometimes you only hear from them when they need something. Although, I have heard some bad things was friend I haven't talked to in years has said, but I just overlook the gossip.

It is sad when you reach out to someone but they only want you when they need something.
It is terrible when you trust someone and they betray you.
Good luck to you and may you always surround yourself with wonderful friends...
