Which would you rather be?

I came across this question on another website and I thought it was interesting. What would you rather be, clever or good looking? I knew right away that my answer is clever. Because good looking can get you far, but cleverness can get you even further. And I was thinking whether or not your first answer is the honest one. Most people like to shout out their answers in less than three seconds, but is it the truth? So, what would you choose? Being clever or being good-looking?

Quite a hard question my friend. It is not as easy as it seems. Whatever you choose it shows that you lack a specific skill. Means if you choose I would rather be clever than beautiful at times it shows that you are not beautiful . And as you are not beautiful so you are bragging about beauty as not essential. that means you are telling it in despair. Now look it in another perspective. If you say I would rather be clever than beautiful, at times it also gives this notion that you are already beautiful and you long for what you are not. Now this again puts ones character assessment into jeopardy. Now you see why I told it as complicated. So in my view this is a question that one should ask, but try not to answer. Now why I said 'should ask' ? It is because this is how you start a discussion. Have a nice day. Hope this becomes your best response.

I would probably say clever because this can get you further and good looking is always from diffent people perspective. Like one person may this your good looking while aniother may think that your ugly, but cleverness allows you to learn things and do things that you otherwise wouldnt if you were dull- minded.

Answering this question with, "I would rather be clever" is always the good answer. Sometimes it can be the best when supported with a very clever explanation. And sometimes, people know it is the best answer so people would answer that way. So your idea of asking "is it the truth" really bites. If I could come up with a very beautiful explanation for choosing to be good looking than being clever, I may choose being good looking. I wish deep in my heart that I would be good looking. because for me being good looking boost confidence and stop me from being shy. I would have a better personality and social skills if I am good looking. But I am thankful I am clever.

Clever, of course. Everybody knows inner beauty right? If you are clever, then your beauty will be shown spontaneusly. But, if you can be good-looking and clever at the same time, why not? lol

I would choose clever...i have gone my whole life not being good-looking and I'm doing pretty good. Thankfully your looks is in the eye of the beholder (can't please everyone).

My first preference would be I WNAT BOTH OF THEM! why do we have to pick out only one choice from two options? i mean people tend to confined to a certain mode of thinking. This is a common tactic salesperson always use when urging u "which one have u decieded to buy? the red one or the white one?" actually u haven't made up ur mind before answering them. and there u go, u fall into their chap and hurridly pick out one!

Clever, there are many things you can do with being smart and not good looking, let's think about Disney Studios - Walt wasn't exactly Prince Charming but he built an empire in the industry - so did Bill Gates - so for myself i choose smart

Some people are literally given a choice, and the two are unfortunately mutually exclusive in a lot of areas. Example: In college I was supporting myself at night with a job that required my to do my hair and makeup every night. I was making great money in this part time job, and I really enjoyed the work. At the same time, I was attending a weekly nighttime seminar (Advanced Topics in Primatology) where a lot of the attendees were rather unfortunate looking. It was a small class, only eleven people total. I found that a lot of what I had to say was brushed under the carpet, that questions I raised about the assigned readings were largely ignored. I was never called on to contribute, and eventually I started keeping my mouth shut. It was intimidating!! I had become the "pretty girl" in class, which unfortunately excluded me as being the "smart girl". I have always preferred smarts to looks, in myself and in my partners. Having gone through that experience (which really messed with my self esteem until the end of the semester, where I did end up one of the three students who got an A :-) ) I can safely say I pick clever. Pretty might pay the bills for a while, but eventually we all end up looking like a leather handbag anyway!
