I always thought that the one who wrote Desiderata was anonymous... i did not know that he has a name... i love Desiderata... and grew up reading it constantly... and honestly speaking... i have always wanted to get a gift with this poem written on it... but up until now... no one has given it to me yet...

I remembered this poem. A very meaningful one. ^__^ Greatest battle in life is fought within oneself.
I love the last line. "Be cheerful. Strive to be happy." I'm always reminded of that. ^__^

I like 2 verses in that poem and I tried to practice them.
"If you compare yourself with others,
You may become vain and bitter,
For always there will be greater
And lesser persons than yourself."
It teaches me to be humble despite any achievements I might earned and to be contented with whatever things I might have.
"With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
It is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful, strive to be happy."
When you are light-hearted and happy whatever problems there might be will just be easy to take making Life so beautiful.

I like this poem for its message. I like this poem because it reminds me of my dad who had it framed in our hallway. Everytime I see one, it just makes me smile and gives me a sense of comfort.
