can the lost student find the way?

students first aim is studying,when a student failed in his study for some reasons,but when he realise this,it's so late.how can he do his study? drop it?what should he do?

He can always resit the year or the exam, there is always something he can do. It is a learning experience, he now knows what he needs to do for his exam in order to pass, so it will motivate him.
