Same shoes?

I read that it wasn't good for your feet to wear the same shoes every day.
It said It is also bad for you to go barefooted. The problem is not everyone can afford to buy a dozen or more pairs of shoes. I have seen women who wear those pointed toe shoes for so long that their toes are starting to grow over the toe next to it, especially the smaller toe. Then it stated that most women who have backache and sometimes headaches was caused from wearing the wrong type of shoes. Is your feet the last thing you think about taking care of? Do you wear the same shoes every day?

Wow, your feet must have taken a beating on those long 12 hour
shifts Nurses have to pull. I admire people in that profession.
From being around a nurse(friend)for years I understand they are
really the backbone of every doctor.
After 20 years of service, it's time to put up your feet and take a
well deserved rest. It's really amazing how much our feet can stand.

For me, i guess it's just but natural for all women to have two or more pairs of shoes. In my situation, i changes my shoes every season of the year. But everytime I buys a new one, i will see to it that it's comfortable and the quality is good.

Women usually buy shoes for the look and not for comfort.
That's why there are more womens shoes in a store than for men.
Most men wont buy a pair of shoes that hurt their feet,
but women will. That's why there are so many styles for us to choose from.
Glad to hear you want comfort and quality above style.
Smart woman.

I don't wear the same shoes because it's boring, plus it makes for more variety. I didn't know about wearing high heels as I don't wear them ever for obvious reason (I'm a man). I don't know why woman would wear them, either. They look painful and it looks like it would make your back hurt.

Well if you want the truth...we wear those uncomfortable high heels because MEN think women look better in those stylish shoes and when we are young that's really who we are trying to impress even if it does hurt our feet. Yeah, women are stupid like that! If Paris Hilton was seen wearing tennis shoes with a dress, every one 40 and under(maybe older too)would be doing it. Women just have to keep up with the changing style.

I like taking care of my feet because they carry me everywhere. I'm careful when I buy shoes, because I don't want to damage my feet or my back.
I do have some of those pointy stylish shoes, but I know if I only wear them once in awhile, I'll be fine. I used to wear high heels everyday and I loved them. I never developed headaches or backaches, but I know other people do.
I switch shoes depending on my activities. I didn't know you weren't supposed to wear the same shoes everyday. Oh well. Every day 'they' come up with one more thing that isn't good for us, or we shouldn't do. I'm losing track.
My mom told me that during the depression, when the soles of her shoes wore out, her mom filled them in with newspaper.
That's a reality check.

Yes it is good to take care of our feet. But from what I read they take a lot of abuse from women trying to keep in style. What fool invented that ugly extra pointed toe shoe. It had to be a man who wanted to punish women without being called an abuser and we fell for it...They are the most uncomfortable shoes that ever came on the market. Why we just had to have them is beyond me? They don't even look good and they feel even worse.
The newspapers had a lot of uses besides being read back then.

I have only one pair of shoes. . But I think I'll have no trouble cos I change the socks that I wear everyday.I wear washed socks everyday and that helps my feet to stay clean. Apart from that I keep the shoes in an open ventilated place, rather than stick them up in a shoe rack away from sight. Cos the more ventilation it gets, the better. All the day's sweat gets soaked out and keeps the shoes feeling fresh always.

I've been wearing the same shoes every day for a long time, and I have had NO problems doing that. My feet are fine. Occasionally I get callouses on the sides of my feet, but that has to do with a pre-existing physical problem, and not with my shoes. When I get those callouses, I shave them off with a special metal thing I got for keeping hard skin on one's feet under control.

I have running shoes, which are my most supportive shoes. I have flat feet and wore corrective shoes until I was like 12, but of course they didn't do any good. It was a real drag because I had to have these ugly brown leather laced shoes, really klunky looking, and I couldn't have nice shoes like the other kids.
After it was discovered by the medical community that corrective shoes don't really fix anything, my mom let me start buying fashionable shoes. My favorite shoes are sandals, because they are generally open and my feet don't fit well in pointy shoes being really wide and flat. I also have a recurring bone spur on one of my little toes and it hurts when it starts to come back. To remove it requires a foot doctor with special tools under local anesthetics. I won't give you the details but I have been on crutches twice in the last twenty years because of it, for a period of about three weeks after the surgery. In fact, I think the spur is recurring again because my running shoes are starting to hurt my toe again. :(
The last time I had it removed was about 18 years ago while I was pregnant for my first son. The first time was about 7 years before that.
My favorite sandals are the canvas ones that are relatively flat and have elastic straps. They are very popular in the last few years and I have tan, black, and navy. I wear them most of the time in the summer. When I am in the house I like to be just stocking feet. Our floors are wood and relatively warm so it's quite comfortable.

Women tend to have dozens upon dozens of pairs of shoes, I know my sister, mom and my girls have a lot of shoes. My sister has to have a pair for almost every outfit. She uses the extra closet in her house just for her shoes.
If the men would tell the truth they too have quiet a bit.
I noticed this when I had to get rid of my husbands things after he passed away.
I will have to read again why it says it's bad to go barefooted, I think it said something about causing some muscle to stretch.

Hi Doll
I wear my birks(but do have 4 different pairs)
most of the time
or I also have loggers when I'm out
working in the fields or my western boots
I do not own a pair of heels anymore.
Because of my back problem I have to have
a decent pair of footwear.

Hi Raydene
You must be talking about Birkenstock shoes.
My daughter wears them too. It was hard for me to find
a pair of western boots that I could get on, I have a high arch
and most wouldn't let my foot go all the way in. Lucky me, I found
a Western wear store where I could order a pair made for my feet when
I lived in Georgia. Too old for them now...
Some shoes can do a lot of damage to feet.

Most days I don't wear shoes, at least not for very long. I have always hated them and still do. Of course, I have really wide feet and I have heard this is due to the spreading of the feet which happens when you don't wear shoes. I work on taking care of my feet, but it still isn't worth the shoes. I wear good shoes when exercising, but other then that I skip the shoes in the house our around the yard and wear flip flops to the store and such...

Since I rarely go out of the house because of my anxiety, I usually am not wearing shoes. I know this probably isn't good for my feet, but It's just more comfortable for me this way.

Interesting question. As a woman I of course do have more than one pair of shoes, you can't wear tennis shoes with a dress and you can't wear street shoes to go for a run, lol. But I pretty much wear the same winter shoes all winter long and same summer shoes all summer long, unless of course I have occasion to dress up or exercise. Is it good? Not when they start to wear out, lol. Just don't have the money for a great variety of shoes...
The reason behind the 'don't wear the same shoes all the time' argument is that your posture will adapt to the shoes you wear. That's how the toes start to deform if you constantly wear pointed shoes. If your heels are too high, you may eventually experience back pain, because your body has to maintain an unnatural balance and that stresses your spine. In essence, there are shoes that can cause harm if worn frequently. Variety is advisable, especially if you wear the more dressy type of shoes, which are often more restricting.
As to barefoot. That is generally the best way to go and I walk around barefoot inside my home in the summer. Why is barefoot not so save outside? You don't know what you may step into. Besides that you could hurt your feet, you may get an infection. I know my house is clean and it is highly unlikely I will step into something bad, lol.

Funny you should say "you can't wear tennis shoes with a dress"
because that is just what I've been seeing lately.
Especially in the older generation.
Some are even wearing the different colors(they are matching them to their dress)
Good news is they don't look so bad worn with a dress.
I wonder if there will be any men who will join in this discussion.
They tend to have different shoes for every sport. Yet they make fun of women who
just have to have a pair of shoes for every outfit.
You take good care of your feet...
Bet you can walk a long way without any pain.
Thanks for responding

I don't pay any attention to my feet. I have two pair of shoes that I have in my house and interchange them only because I want one to air while I wear the other. During the warm months I go barefoot as often as possible. My feet seem to be doing fine so I don't know if there is truth to what I have heard. I only know that my feet are fine with the way I do them.
